Toyota Australia is offering a $4000 deposit bonus on the new-generation HiLux SR5 4x4 when buyers finance through Toyota Finance. The offer started on 1 September 2026 and runs until 31 December 2026, so buyers have two months left to place an order. It applies to new and demonstrator SR5 4x4 utes. For buyers already set on Toyota finance, it's a genuine saving on one of the country's best-selling utes.

The catch is that the bonus is tied to Toyota's own finance products and comes with several conditions. Here is what the Toyota offer terms say.

Who qualifies for the $4000 bonus

  • The vehicle must be a new or demonstrator HiLux 4x4 SR5 built between August 2025 and December 2026.
  • Electric HiLux variants are excluded.
  • The order and finance application must first be received between 1 September and 31 December 2026.
  • The loan must be approved, settled and the vehicle delivered by 28 February 2027.
  • It's open to private buyers and Bronze and Silver fleet customers only.
  • You must finance at least $10,000.
  • Eligible products are the Toyota Finance Consumer Fixed Rate Loan, Toyota Access and the Business Vehicle Loan. Lease products are excluded.
  • The maximum term is 84 months, or 48 months for Toyota Access.

Finance is subject to Toyota Finance approval, and the bonus is paid as a contribution to your deposit, not as a price cut. The vehicle's price stays the same, but the amount you need to borrow or put down drops by $4000.

HiLux SR5 prices

These are Toyota's list prices from the new-generation HiLux launch in December 2025, before on-road costs. The SR5 is sold only as a 4x4 double cab.

HiLux SR5 variantDrivetrainList price before on-road costs
SR5 double cab pick-up manual2.8 turbo-diesel, 420Nm$63,990

A Premium Interior pack adds $2500. Dealers set drive-away prices, which include registration, stamp duty and dealer delivery, and these vary by state and dealer. Prices may also have changed since launch, so treat these as a guide and ask for a written quote.

The bonus applies to every SR5 4x4 variant, including the cab-chassis, as far as we can tell. The terms name the HiLux 4x4 SR5 without excluding any body style, but buyers should confirm with their dealer. The Rogue and Rugged X, from $71,990 plus on-road costs, aren't named in the offer.

What the SR5 gives you

Every SR5 uses the 2.8-litre turbo-diesel with 150kW. Automatic versions add Toyota's V-Active 48-volt system, which uses an 8.5kW and 65Nm motor-generator to assist the engine. Toyota's HiLux launch press kit lists the SR5's key extras over the SR.

  • Comfort-tuned rear leaf suspension
  • 18-inch alloy wheels with larger front brakes
  • Heated front seats and heated steering wheel
  • 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster
  • Integrated towbar

How the bonus works in practice

The figures below are an illustration with round numbers, not a Toyota quote. Say your dealer quotes $70,000 drive-away for an SR5 and you put down $10,000 of your own money. With the bonus, your total deposit becomes $14,000, so the amount you finance falls from $60,000 to $56,000. You pay interest on $4000 less over the whole loan, which adds to the saving. The real benefit depends on the rate and fees on your loan.

The bonus doesn't change the price on the contract. So it won't lower stamp duty, which is based on the vehicle's value.

Which SR5 should you pick

The manual pick-up is the cheapest way into an SR5 and the bonus applies to it. It misses out on the V-Active 48-volt system and has 420Nm instead of 500Nm. Buyers who tow often or drive mostly in traffic will likely prefer the automatic, which has more torque and the mild-hybrid assist.

The cab-chassis automatic suits tradies who want a tray or a service body fitted. Remember the tray and fit-out cost extra, and that adds to what you finance. Toyota says V-Active SR5 grades also let owners switch the air-conditioning on remotely before getting in, which helps on hot days.

If you add the $2500 Premium Interior pack, check with your dealer that the bonus still applies to your exact build.

Is the deposit bonus a good deal?

It depends on the interest rate. Toyota doesn't publish a fixed rate for this offer. The rate you get depends on your credit profile, deposit and loan term. A $4000 bonus can be wiped out by a higher rate over a long loan. So compare the total amount payable, not just the deposit.

  • Get a Toyota Finance quote showing the rate, comparison rate, fees and total repayable over the full term.
  • Get a quote for the same amount and term from your bank or another lender.
  • Compare the total cost of each, after subtracting the $4000 bonus from the Toyota option.
  • Check for any early repayment fees if you plan to pay the loan off early.

Buyers who plan to pay cash or use a novated lease can't use this offer. Large fleet buyers above Silver level are also excluded.

Timing and delivery risk

The order window closes on 31 December 2026, but the loan has to settle and the ute must be delivered by 28 February 2027. If the variant and colour you want isn't in stock, check the expected delivery date before you order. Toyota said in October that average waits for many models, including the HiLux, had fallen to around three months, and our report on Toyota wait times covers what that means for the HiLux. If delivery slips past February, ask your dealer in writing how the bonus would be handled.

Demonstrator SR5s are also eligible. A demo can come with a lower price as well as the bonus, but check the kilometres, build date and remaining warranty.

How it fits the wider ute market

Toyota is offering the bonus on a ute that faces strong competition from the Ford Ranger and a growing list of hybrid and plug-in hybrid utes. A finance-linked deposit bonus lets Toyota sharpen the deal without cutting the list price. Buyers comparing utes should compare drive-away quotes and finance offers across brands, not just list prices.

What we don't know

  • The interest rate Toyota Finance will offer, which depends on each applicant
  • Whether Toyota will extend the offer past 31 December 2026
  • Current stock levels for each SR5 variant and colour
  • Whether dealers will add their own discounts on top of the bonus
