2026 RAM 2500 Price in Australia

The RAM 2500 is the entry point to RAM Trucks Australia's current Heavy Duty range, positioned above the 1500 for owners who regularly tow or haul loads that demand a more substantial chassis and powertrain. Its scale, engineering and towing focus make it a specialist alternative to mainstream dual-cab utes. For Australian caravan, boat, livestock and work-trailer owners, the appeal lies in having generous torque and a platform engineered around heavy-duty use.

Current Australian Laramie Cummins High Output specification uses the 6.7-litre Cummins turbo-diesel inline-six and RAM's TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic. RAM Trucks Australia quotes 313 kW and 1,458 Nm for the latest high-output engine, giving the 2500 the low-speed pulling strength expected of a serious tow vehicle. A smart diesel exhaust brake assists vehicle control on descents, particularly valuable when a heavy trailer is attached.

RAM Trucks Australia highlights substantial braked towing capability across the 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty range. Exact legal towing capacity depends on the model, hitch equipment, trailer connection, vehicle loading and applicable regulations, so owners should confirm the complete towing combination rather than selecting a vehicle on a headline number alone. Genuine RAM heavy-duty towing accessories are available for different requirements, and the vehicle's payload and axle limits remain important parts of any towing calculation.

The Laramie grade adds the comfort expected by buyers who may spend hours travelling between Australian cities or towing to remote holiday destinations. The crew cab offers generous space for adults and equipment. Current safety and towing technology includes blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-path and trailer detection, forward collision warning with active braking, surround-view camera, active lane management, pedestrian and cyclist detection, adaptive cruise control, traffic-sign recognition and drowsy-driver detection.

The 2500's capability comes with everyday compromises. It is much larger than a typical Australian dual-cab ute, so urban parking, tight shopping centres and narrow streets demand more care. Fuel, tyres, servicing and registration-related costs can also be significant. Buyers should consider whether they will genuinely use the heavy-duty chassis and diesel torque often enough to justify those trade-offs. If towing requirements stay within the capabilities of a RAM 1500, the lighter model can be easier to use day to day.

For owners who do need the extra margin, the RAM 2500 is a compelling tow platform. It balances heavy-duty engineering with a comfortable premium cabin and a useful range of trailer-focused technology. Australian buyers should confirm current specifications, towing hardware, payload, gross mass limits and licensing implications with an authorised RAM dealer before purchase. Properly matched to the task, the 2500 is built for demanding towing with far less compromise than asking a smaller ute to operate near its limits.
