GWM Cannon Hi4-T plug-in hybrid ute arrives from $47,990 drive-away with 3,500kg towing
The GWM Cannon Hi4-T plug-in hybrid dual-cab ute is arriving in Australian GWM dealerships now. With a $2000 launch bonus that runs until 31 October 2026, the entry Lux grade costs $47,990 drive-away for eligible ABN holders, making it the cheapest plug-in hybrid ute on sale in Australia.
Pricing was first announced in September. This story covers the confirmed drive-away prices now that the first utes are reaching showrooms, and what buyers need to know before the launch offer ends.
Cannon Hi4-T drive-away prices
| Grade | ABN holders | ABN with launch bonus | Private buyers | Private with launch bonus |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hi4-T Lux | $49,990 | $47,990 | $50,990 | $48,990 |
| Hi4-T Ultra | $53,990 | $51,990 | $54,990 | $52,990 |
The launch bonus applies to utes ordered and delivered by 31 October 2026. Buyers can take a $2000 fuel card in place of the drive-away discount. Prices may vary by state, so check with your local dealer.
Powertrain, range and towing
Both grades use a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with GWM's Hi4-T plug-in hybrid system for combined outputs of 310kW and 750Nm. A 33.1kWh battery provides a claimed 115km of electric-only range on the NEDC cycle, and GWM quotes up to 1037km of combined range on a full tank and charge.
The Hi4-T keeps a mechanical four-wheel-drive system with a low-range transfer case. Braked towing is rated at 3500kg, payload is 835kg, GVM is 3420kg and GCM is 6400kg. Kerb weight is 2585kg for both grades.
Equipment
The Lux comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, a 15.6-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, adaptive cruise control, wireless charging, keyless entry and start, a spray-in tub liner and a full-size spare. The Ultra adds leather-accented trim, heated and ventilated power front seats, a heated steering wheel, a sunroof, ambient lighting and a 360-degree camera.
How it compares
The Cannon Hi4-T undercuts other plug-in hybrid utes such as the BYD Shark 6 and the Ford Ranger PHEV by a wide margin. GWM buyers wanting diesel power can still choose the diesel GWM Cannon, while the larger Cannon Alpha recently gained a new diesel option, covered in our Cannon Alpha and Tank 500 diesel story.
Our take
With strong outputs, full 3500kg towing and a sub-$50,000 drive-away price, the Cannon Hi4-T makes plug-in hybrid utes far more accessible. Buyers keen on the best deal should move before the 31 October deadline.
