Fiat’s passenger car future in Australia in doubt as 500e stock runs out

Fiat 500e electric hatch as Fiat passenger car future in Australia is in doubt

Fiat and its Abarth performance brand are close to running out of passenger cars to sell in Australia, and no more are on order. Stellantis Australia says stock of the Fiat 500e and Abarth 500e electric hatches has largely been sold through, and that at this stage it is not planning additional orders while it evaluates future product opportunities for the local market.

Stellantis first confirmed this position in mid-July 2026 and has not announced any new Fiat or Abarth passenger model for Australia since. The company has not said the brands are leaving, and it says it will keep supporting Fiat and Abarth owners and dealers.

What is left in showrooms

When Stellantis confirmed the pause, only about a dozen new 500e and Abarth 500e hatches were listed on Fiat’s stock search, all 2023 builds, plus around 30 petrol Fiat 500s and a single Abarth 695 that arrived before new safety rules ended their import in 2025. Head office funded discounts of more than $20,000 to clear the electric cars, bringing the 500e to $38,990 drive-away and the Abarth 500e to $43,990 drive-away, compared with up to about $65,000 at launch.

Remaining stock is likely to be very thin by now, so check with a dealer before you visit. Only five Fiat dealers still sell passenger cars, alongside 14 Fiat Professional van sites.

What it means for owners and van buyers

Stellantis says it will continue to support Fiat and Abarth customers, so warranty, servicing and parts should continue through the dealer network. The change does not affect Fiat Professional, which sells the Ducato large van and the recently relaunched Scudo mid-size van and recorded its best year of 1,541 sales in 2025.

Could new Fiats still come

Globally, Stellantis has named Fiat one of its four core brands, alongside Jeep, Ram and Peugeot. Newer models such as the 600, Grande Panda and Grizzly have not been confirmed for Australia, and Stellantis says it will share more about Fiat and Abarth plans at the appropriate time.
