Chery Stockman diesel plug-in hybrid ute gets 350 kW and 96 km electric range

Chery Australia has published key specifications for the Stockman dual-cab ute and opened online reservations ahead of customer deliveries from 1 February 2027. The official spec sheet describes a 2.5-litre turbo-diesel Super Hybrid plug-in system with 350 kW combined power, 800 Nm combined torque, a 34 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery and up to 96 km of WLTP electric driving range.

Reservations opened on 1 October 2026. Early reservations attract a pre-launch package that Chery says includes a $2,000 Bunnings gift card and three years or 45,000 km of complimentary scheduled servicing, with terms applying. Australian pricing and the final grade list remain unpublished.

Chery’s 1 October release says further information, including pricing, specifications and official sales-launch timing, will be announced closer to showroom arrival. The 2 October specification update then firmed the performance and towing numbers above while repeating the 1 February 2027 delivery start. Spec sheets remain marked indicative and subject to change.

How to read the ute against rivals

Stockman is positioned as Chery’s first Australian dual-cab and as a diesel plug-in hybrid in a segment where many rivals use petrol plug-in systems. Until Chery publishes a local price, do not compare an overseas figure with an Australian drive-away for a BYD Shark 6 or other electrified ute. For plug-in running-cost context see running a plug-in hybrid without regular charging, the BYD cashback and Shark 6 offer note, and the wider Chery new-car index.

The verified package is therefore 350 kW, 800 Nm, up to 96 km WLTP, reservations open now and deliveries from 1 February 2027, with price still to come from Chery Australia. Also compare ute rivals such as the Ford Ranger, and see our guides to hybrid and plug-in hybrid SUVs under $50,000, EV home charging and on-road costs versus list price.
