2026 Chery Tiggo 7 Super Hybrid Price in Australia

The Chery Tiggo 7 Super Hybrid is the plug-in hybrid member of Chery Australia’s medium-SUV range, designed for buyers who want meaningful electric driving for daily use but still need the flexibility of a petrol engine for longer trips. It is a five-seat, front-wheel-drive SUV powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine working with a permanent-magnet electric motor and an 18.4kWh lithium iron phosphate battery. The Australian specification lists up to 93km of electric range on the NEDC test cycle, while Chery promotes a combined driving range of up to 1,200km when the battery and fuel tank are used together. Those laboratory and internal-test figures should be treated as comparison guides because real-world results vary with speed, temperature, traffic, terrain, load and driving style.

For Australian commuters, the main attraction is the ability to complete many shorter weekday trips on electric power when the vehicle is charged, then rely on petrol support when the journey extends beyond the battery's usable range. Type 2 AC and CCS2 DC charging are supported, so owners can recharge at home or compatible public chargers rather than depending only on engine-generated energy. The dedicated hybrid transmission manages the petrol and electric systems automatically, while EV and HEV settings sit alongside Eco, Normal and Sport drive modes. Front-wheel drive keeps the layout straightforward, although buyers who specifically require all-wheel drive will need to look elsewhere in the market.

The Tiggo 7 Super Hybrid also works as a conventional family SUV. Its five-seat cabin includes synthetic leather upholstery, a powered driver's seat, rear air vents, a 60:40 split-folding rear seat and dual 12.3-inch displays for instrumentation and infotainment. Wired and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, together with Chery’s voice-command system. The Ultimate grade builds on the Urban with features such as a panoramic sunroof, power tailgate, heated and ventilated front seats, driver-seat memory, an eight-speaker Sony sound system, a 50W wireless phone charger, privacy glass and a 360-degree around-view monitor. This means buyers should compare grades carefully rather than assume every advertised comfort feature is standard across the range.

Safety is another important part of the Australian package. The model carries a five-star ANCAP safety rating and includes a substantial suite of driver-assistance systems such as autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning and prevention, blind-spot detection, rear cross-traffic functions and driver monitoring. Eight airbags are listed for the current Australian specification. As with any assistance technology, these systems support rather than replace attentive driving, and individual functions can behave differently depending on road markings, weather and traffic conditions.

Ownership support is competitive for the segment. Chery Australia backs the Tiggo 7 Super Hybrid with a seven-year unlimited-kilometre vehicle warranty, seven years of capped-price servicing and up to seven years of roadside assistance when the applicable service requirements are met. The high-voltage battery carries an eight-year unlimited-kilometre warranty under Chery’s stated terms and conditions. Buyers should still confirm current service pricing, warranty exclusions and roadside-assistance eligibility with an authorised dealer before purchase.

Overall, the Tiggo 7 Super Hybrid makes the most sense for Australian households that can take advantage of regular charging but do not want their travel plans dictated by charging stops. It combines useful electric-only capability, long-distance petrol backup, a modern cabin and strong standard safety equipment in a medium-SUV footprint. Its trade-offs are typical of a plug-in hybrid: extra weight and mechanical complexity compared with a simple petrol model, efficiency that depends heavily on charging habits, and no all-wheel-drive option in the local Super Hybrid range. For the right usage pattern, however, it is a flexible alternative to both conventional petrol SUVs and fully electric family cars.
