The Chery Tiggo 4 Hybrid is a compact five-seat hybrid SUV developed for Australian buyers who want lower fuel consumption without plugging in, combining a 1.5-litre hybrid-electric powertrain with a dedicated hybrid transmission and an official combined consumption figure of 5.4L/100km; its small exterior footprint, up to 470 litres of luggage capacity, dual 10.25-inch displays and wired or wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto make it especially relevant for city commuting, school runs and households that still want useful SUV practicality. The Australian range is offered in Urban and Ultimate grades, with the Urban covering the essentials such as the digital displays, reverse camera, front and rear parking sensors, dual-zone climate control and Chery driver-assistance technology, while the Ultimate adds features including synthetic leather upholstery, a 360-degree around-view monitor, powered driver's seat, heated front seats, wireless charging, a sunroof, power-folding mirrors and a six-speaker audio system. For buyers comparing affordable hybrids in Australia, the Tiggo 4 Hybrid offers the convenience of self-charging hybrid operation, 91 RON fuel compatibility and Chery's seven-year unlimited-kilometre vehicle warranty, though shoppers should note that it is not a plug-in hybrid and should compare real-world economy, cargo needs and long-term resale expectations with established small-SUV alternatives.

The Chery Tiggo 4 Hybrid is the electrified member of Chery Australia's small-SUV range, aimed at buyers who want better fuel efficiency without changing their routine around charging. It is a conventional self-charging hybrid rather than a plug-in hybrid, so there is no requirement to connect the vehicle to a charger. The petrol engine, electric assistance and dedicated hybrid transmission work together automatically, making the model well suited to urban traffic where hybrid systems can frequently recover and reuse energy.
For the Australian market, the Tiggo 4 Hybrid uses a 1.5-litre hybrid-electric engine and a one-speed dedicated hybrid transmission. Chery quotes combined fuel consumption of 5.4L/100km and recommends unleaded petrol of 91 RON or higher. The vehicle measures 4,330mm in length, 1,830mm in width and 1,655mm in height, with a 2,604mm wheelbase. Those dimensions place it firmly in the small-SUV category, while the luggage area offers up to 470 litres in the configuration quoted by Chery, helping it remain practical for groceries, prams and weekend bags.
The cabin uses a twin-screen layout with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support both wired and wireless connection for compatible devices, and Chery's voice-command system can handle selected vehicle and infotainment functions. Dual-zone automatic climate control, rear air vents and smart-key operation add everyday convenience. The Urban grade uses fabric seating and a four-speaker audio system, while the Ultimate lifts the presentation with synthetic leather trim, heated front seats, a powered driver's seat, colour-selectable ambient lighting and a six-speaker system.
The Ultimate also adds several convenience features that are useful in dense Australian urban environments. A 360-degree around-view monitor helps with parking, while the powered sunroof, power-folding exterior mirrors, 15W wireless phone charging and temporary spare wheel expand the equipment list. The Urban retains a reverse camera and front and rear parking sensors, so buyers do not need to choose the top grade to get basic parking assistance. Wheel and trim details vary by grade, so buyers should confirm the exact specification of the vehicle they are considering.
Safety technology is a major part of the Tiggo 4 Hybrid package. Chery lists autonomous emergency braking, forward-collision warning, blind-spot detection, lane-change assistance, rear cross-traffic alert and intelligent headlight control among the available driver-assistance functions. The systems are designed to support the driver in common situations such as lane changes, reversing and approaching slower traffic, but they do not replace attentive driving. The Ultimate's surround-view camera adds another layer of visibility when manoeuvring at low speed.
Ownership support is another reason Australian buyers may shortlist the Tiggo 4 Hybrid. Chery Australia provides a seven-year unlimited-kilometre vehicle warranty and seven years of capped-price servicing, with roadside assistance able to continue under the applicable servicing program. The Tiggo 4 Hybrid therefore makes the most sense for buyers seeking a compact SUV that is easy to live with, does not require external charging and offers a stronger official fuel-consumption figure than the turbo-petrol Tiggo 4. Its main trade-offs are that it remains a relatively new entrant in the local hybrid market, some desirable comfort features are reserved for the Ultimate, and buyers who want significant electric-only driving should instead consider a plug-in hybrid or battery-electric vehicle.
