Mazda CX-5 Price in Australia 2026: Every Grade, Specs and Running Costs

· 1 View · 10 min read

Mazda CX-5 price in Australia 2026

The Mazda CX-5 has been one of Australia's favourite medium SUVs for more than a decade, and the new generation keeps the formula simple. Every grade gets the same 2.5 litre petrol engine, a six speed automatic and all wheel drive, so the price you pay comes down to equipment rather than mechanical choices.

This guide sets out the price of every new generation CX-5 grade in Australia, what Mazda's drive away offer includes, the key specs, what each step up the range adds, and what it costs to run. Prices and specifications were checked on Mazda Australia's website and media releases on 19 October 2026.

Mazda CX-5 price in Australia at a glance

The new CX-5 starts at $39,990 before on-road costs for the Pure and tops out at $54,990 for the Akera. All five grades share the G25 petrol engine and AWD.

Source: Mazda Australia pricing release, 23 March 2026. Optional trim packs cost $1,000: black or white Maztex on the Touring, and tan leather on the GT SP and Akera.

Gaps between grades are fairly even. Evolve costs $3,000 more than Pure, Touring $4,500 more than Evolve, GT SP $4,500 more than Touring, and Akera $3,000 more than GT SP. That makes it easy to see what you are paying for each step.

Mazda CX-5 drive away price

Mazda Australia's offers page and CX-5 model page both advertise the CX-5 G25 Pure from $43,990 drive away. Mazda's model page shows the same $43,990 figure in every state and territory, and $44,785 with premium paint, which is a $795 option. Mazda says the drive away price includes 12 months registration, compulsory third party insurance, stamp duty and dealer delivery. No end date was published for the offer when we checked on 19 October 2026.

Against the $39,990 list price, that drive away figure means about $4,000 in on-road costs and delivery. Our guide to on-road costs and drive away pricing explains how that gap is built up.

Mazda only publishes a drive away price for the Pure. For the other four grades, ask a dealer for a written drive away quote on the exact car, colour and options you want.

SOURCE CONFLICT: Mazda Australia's offers page also has a separate "Final Mazda CX-5 Runout" section for remaining stock of the previous generation (P Model) CX-5. The $43,990 G25 Pure offer sits in its own section and the same figure appears on the new generation model page, but an earlier AussieMotor deals check linked the $43,990 price to the previous model's runout. Before you sign, confirm in writing whether the car you are quoted is the new generation or a previous generation runout vehicle.

M-Day offers on Saturday 17 October, including three free scheduled services and a $1,000 deposit bonus with Mazda Finance, have now ended.

SOURCE CONFLICT: Mazda's March 2026 pricing release lists a 9 inch screen on the Pure and a garbled screen size on the Akera. Mazda's live CX-5 model page says the centre screen is 12.9 inches, with a 15.6 inch screen exclusive to the Akera, and that a 10.25 inch digital instrument display is fitted. We have used the model page figures, but check the brochure or a showroom car for the grade you are buying.

Mazda says a CX-5 hybrid is on the way for later in the decade, but there is no Australian launch date. Our story on Mazda's EV plans and CX-5 hybrid timing has the background.

Mazda CX-5 Pure: the entry grade

The Pure is the cheapest new CX-5 at $39,990 before on-road costs, and it is the only grade with a published drive away price. It is not a stripped out base car.

Standard equipment includes 17 inch alloy wheels, LED headlamps with high beam control, dual zone climate control, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, black cloth trim, front and rear parking sensors, and blind spot monitoring with turn warning. Radar cruise control with stop and go is also standard.

Suits: buyers who want the full CX-5 package, including AWD and Mazda's safety gear, for the lowest price.

Watch for: no heated seats, wireless phone mirroring or keyless entry. If those matter, the Evolve is worth the extra $3,000.

Mazda CX-5 Evolve: the value step up

The Evolve costs $42,990 before on-road costs. It adds the comfort features many buyers expect in a family SUV at this price.

Over the Pure it gains heated front seats, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless phone charger, smart keyless entry, rear air vents, heated and auto folding mirrors and a frameless auto dimming rear view mirror.

Suits: families who want heated seats and rear vents without paying for leather or larger wheels.

Watch for: the Evolve keeps the Pure's cloth trim and 17 inch wheels.

Mazda CX-5 Touring: the most equipment for the money

The Touring is $47,490 before on-road costs. This is the grade where the CX-5 starts to feel more upmarket.

It adds 19 inch machined alloy wheels, Maztex seat trim with suede inserts, a 10 way power driver's seat with memory, a heated steering wheel, a power tailgate, the active driving display head up display, roof rails and a heated windscreen. Black or white Maztex trim is a $1,000 option.

Suits: buyers who will use the power tailgate and head up display every day and want the cabin to feel a step above the entry grades.

Watch for: 19 inch wheels look good but usually cost more to replace than 17s.

Mazda CX-5 GT SP: sporty look and premium audio

The GT SP is $51,990 before on-road costs. It mixes extra luxury with a darker, sportier look.

Over the Touring it adds 19 inch black alloys, gloss black exterior trim, a 12 speaker Bose sound system, ambient lighting, black leather trim, an 8 way power passenger seat, heated outer rear seats, rear USB-C ports, adaptive LED headlamps and a 360 degree monitor with see through view. Tan leather is a $1,000 option.

Suits: buyers who want the Bose stereo, leather and the 360 degree camera for tight parking.

Watch for: the step from Touring is $4,500, so drive both before deciding whether the extras matter to you.

Mazda CX-5 Akera: the flagship

The Akera tops the range at $54,990 before on-road costs. It is the only grade with the 15.6 inch centre screen on Mazda's model page.

On top of the GT SP it adds ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, a hands free power tailgate, paddle shifters and Mazda's personalisation system. Tan leather is a $1,000 option.

Suits: buyers who want every feature, especially cooled seats and the panoramic roof for hot summers.

Watch for: the engine is the same as the $39,990 Pure, so the Akera is about comfort and equipment, not performance.

Mazda CX-5 colours

Mazda lists seven paint colours for the new CX-5, including the new Navy Blue Mica. On the Pure, premium paint adds $795 to the drive away price according to Mazda's model page.

Mazda CX-5 running costs

The CX-5's official combined fuel figure is 7.4 L/100km on 91 RON regular unleaded. Here is what that means at a round example price of $2.00 a litre. This is not a quote, so swap in your local price.

Expect higher fuel use in short city trips, and when towing or carrying a full load.

Servicing (unverified): we could not confirm capped price servicing costs for the new generation CX-5 on Mazda Australia's website when we checked. Ask the dealer for the scheduled service prices and intervals in writing before you buy.

The warranty is five years with unlimited kilometres.

How the Mazda CX-5 compares with rivals

The CX-5 is in the busiest part of the new car market. These rivals are the ones most CX-5 shoppers also look at. We have not listed rival prices here because they change with grade and offer, so check each brand's own website for current pricing.

Model

Petrol or hybrid range

Why cross shop it

Mazda CX-5

AWD on all grades and a strong dealer network

Toyota RAV4

Hyundai Tucson

Petrol and hybrid

Available

Hybrid choice and a big cabin

Kia Sportage

Petrol, diesel and hybrid

Available

The widest choice of powertrains

Mitsubishi Outlander

Petrol and plug-in hybrid

Subaru Forester

Nissan X-Trail

The CX-5's strengths: AWD on every grade, a five star ANCAP rating across the range, a five year unlimited kilometre warranty and a simple line up.

The CX-5's weak point: at 7.4 L/100km it uses more fuel than the hybrid rivals. If most of your driving is in town, at least test drive a hybrid before you decide.

For Mazda's other SUVs, from the small CX-3 to the seven seat CX-90, see our Mazda SUV range guide.

Which Mazda CX-5 should you buy?

  • Lowest price: the Pure at $39,990 before on-road costs, or $43,990 drive away on Mazda's offer.

  • Best value for most families: the Evolve adds heated seats, wireless phone mirroring and rear vents for $3,000 more.

  • Best all rounder: the Touring brings the power tailgate, head up display and bigger wheels.

  • Most features: the Akera for cooled seats, the panoramic roof and the larger screen.

The bottom line

The new Mazda CX-5 costs $39,990 to $54,990 before on-road costs, with the Pure advertised at $43,990 drive away. Every grade has the same 2.5 litre petrol engine and AWD, so choose the grade by the features you will use. Confirm which generation you are being quoted on, get a written drive away price for any grade above the Pure, and test drive a hybrid rival if fuel economy is your priority.
