Mazda SUV Range in Australia 2026: CX-3 to CX-90 Prices, Sizes and Which to Buy

Mazda SUV Range in Australia 2026

Mazda’s Australian SUV lineup in October 2026 stretches from a city-sized CX-3 to seven-seat CX-80 and CX-90 hybrids, with a new-generation CX-5 in the middle and the brand’s first mainstream electric SUV, the CX-6e, arriving through dealers.

This guide maps the whole current Mazda SUV and crossover range sold in Australia: compact and small, medium, large, and the electric CX-6e. It is a buying guide and comparison, not a scored ranking. We do not name a single “best overall” Mazda SUV.

Pricing basis: figures are manufacturer list prices (MLP) before on-road costs, unless we say otherwise. Stamp duty, registration, CTP and dealer delivery still apply and vary by state. See our drive-away vs list price guide. Where Mazda Australia publishes a clear national drive-away offer, we label it separately. Large Architecture models (CX-60, CX-70, CX-80, CX-90) are shown as Mazda’s MLP excluding luxury car tax (LCT) where that is how the official 2026 price table is written.

Browse the Mazda brand hub, the SUV category, and all new cars. Related guides: hybrid and plug-in hybrid SUVs under $50,000, electric SUVs under $60,000, 7-seat family SUVs, and cheapest family cars to run.

How we chose

As at: Wednesday 7 October 2026 (Australia/Hobart).

In scope: Mazda passenger SUVs and crossovers marketed new in Australia: CX-3, CX-30, next-generation CX-5, CX-6e, CX-60, CX-70, CX-80 and CX-90. Outgoing second-generation CX-5 run-out stock is noted where still promoted. MX-30 is not treated as a current AussieMotor model page (404) and is not in the active lineup scan for this guide.

Research path: Google results for mazda suv australia, mazda medium suv, mazda suv price range and mazda cx-5 price australia; then a full scan of mazda.com.au SUV range, model and pricing news pages. Official Mazda Australia MLP and drive-away figures take priority. CarExpert and CarsGuide tables are used where Mazda does not publish a public before-ORC ladder on the model page (notably CX-3 and CX-30 list prices). Unresolved clashes are flagged as SOURCE CONFLICT.

Editorial approach: one comprehensive comparison table for the whole range, then a detailed section for each nameplate (size, seats, powertrains, price from, who it suits, what to watch). No numeric ranking. Pre-order or delivery-ramping models are not treated as identical to long-running on-sale stock.

Out of scope: inventing URLs; mixing drive-away and list prices in the same table column without labels; unsupported “class leader” claims.

Quick answer: which Mazda SUV for which job

  • City parking and lowest list: CX-3 from about $30,670 before ORC (Pure). Mazda also advertises Pure from $30,990 drive-away nationally on its model page (confirm offer still live).

  • Small SUV with more polish and optional AWD: CX-30 from $34,360 before ORC; Pure often $33,990 drive-away on mazda.com.au.

  • Mainstream medium family five-seater: next-gen CX-5 from $39,990 before ORC, 2.5-litre petrol AWD only at launch.

  • Electric medium five-seater: CX-6e from $53,990 MLP (GT); first deliveries flagged from September 2026.

  • Premium five-seat with six-cylinder or PHEV choice: CX-60 from $45,640 MLP ex LCT (G25 Pure RWD).

  • Five-seat large coupe-SUV: CX-70 from $73,020 MLP ex LCT.

  • Six or seven seats, value-leaning large: CX-80 from $56,100 MLP ex LCT.

  • Flagship six or seven seats: CX-90 from $66,100 MLP ex LCT.

If your budget is under about $40,000 before ORC, you are in CX-3 / CX-30 / entry CX-5 territory. For hybrid ownership maths more broadly, see petrol vs hybrid vs electric running costs and cheapest cars to run. Insurance basics sit in our CTP vs third party vs comprehensive explainer.

CX-3 and CX-30 before-ORC ladders: CarExpert / CarsGuide attribution of manufacturer pricing (Mazda model pages lead with drive-away offers). CX-5, CX-6e and Large Architecture: Mazda Australia official pricing news. Always reconfirm the build sheet and on-roads for your state before you sign.

How to pick the right Mazda SUV

Start with seats and boot, not the badge

CX-3 and CX-30 are five-seaters with compact footprints. CX-5 and CX-60 stay five seats but grow the boot and rear room. CX-80 and CX-90 add a third row in six or seven-seat layouts. CX-70 keeps five seats on the large platform if you want space without the third row.

Match the powertrain to your kilometres

Petrol fours (CX-3, CX-30, CX-5) suit simpler servicing and denser dealer familiarity. Mild-hybrid sixes (CX-60 / 70 / 80 / 90) cut claimed fuel use versus older naturally aspirated large petrols. P50e plug-in hybrids on CX-60 and CX-80 only repay the premium if you charge often. CX-6e needs home or workplace charging to make sense for most owners. For hybrid shortlists under $50,000 before ORC, see our hybrid SUV guide. For battery-electric rivals under $60,000, see the electric SUV guide.

Decide FWD, AWD or RWD on purpose

Entry CX-3 and most CX-30 grades are FWD. Next-gen CX-5 is AWD across the board at launch. CX-60 offers RWD on G25 Pure-style grades and AWD on six-cylinder and PHEV grades. CX-6e is RWD only. Large Architecture AWD is about all-weather confidence and Mazda’s on-road AWD tuning, not a substitute for a dual-cab 4x4.

Price the on-roads and LCT separately

List prices under about $40,000 still need state on-roads. Large Architecture MLP tables are excluding LCT; grades that cross the LCT threshold can jump when tax is applied. Drive-away banners on mazda.com.au are campaigns: check end dates and “participating dealers” fine print.

Test third-row reality if you need seven seats

Brochure seven seats are not the same as adult third-row seats. Fit child seats in row two, then try climbing into row three. Compare CX-80 and CX-90 against Outlander, Sorento, Santa Fe and Kluger in our 7-seat family SUV guide.

Mazda CX-3: compact city SUV

The Mazda CX-3 remains the brand’s most compact SUV: five seats, front-wheel drive, and a 2.0-litre petrol automatic aimed at urban and outer-suburban buyers who want a higher seating position than a hatch.

Mazda CX-3 • Detail

1 / 9

Size and seats: compact five-seater. Rear space and boot are tighter than CX-30 and CX-5. Fine for two adults and kids on short trips; less convincing for long highway legs with teens in the back.

Powertrains: G20 2.0-litre petrol, six-speed automatic, FWD across the current ladder reported by CarExpert and CarsGuide (Pure, Evolve, GT SP, Akari).

Price from: $30,670 before ORC for G20 Pure (CarExpert / CarsGuide). Evolve $32,400, GT SP $35,630, Akari $39,190 before ORC on the same tables. Mazda Australia’s CX-3 page currently leads with Pure from $30,990 national drive-away (offer terms on the site; confirm still current).

Who it suits: first SUV buyers, downsizers, and anyone who prioritises easy parking and a familiar Mazda dealer network over boot volume.

Watch for: Chinese small SUVs undercut on drive-away price (see also new cars under $25,000 drive-away for the absolute budget end of the market). CX-3 is not the cheapest new SUV in Australia on list or drive-away. Rear seat and cargo are the practical limits. Compare fuel and ownership maths in our family running costs and cheapest cars to run guides if efficiency is the deciding factor.

Mazda CX-30: small SUV with Mazda3 DNA

The Mazda CX-30 sits above the CX-3 as a small five-seat crossover sharing much of its driving character with the Mazda3 hatch and sedan.

Mazda CX-30 • Detail

1 / 9

Size and seats: about 4395 mm long on a 2655 mm wheelbase (CarExpert Pure review figures). Boot around 317 litres with seats up on the Pure: usable for grocery runs, tight for prams and airport luggage compared with medium SUVs.

Powertrains: G20 2.0-litre (about 114 kW / 200 Nm) FWD, or G25 2.5-litre on higher grades; selected G25 grades offer AWD. Six-speed automatic. Mild-hybrid CX-30 variants previously sold here are no longer part of the current Australian mix per recent CarExpert coverage.

Price from: $34,360 before ORC (G20 Pure), then Evolve $36,260, G20 Touring $40,060, G25 Touring $41,560, Touring LE $42,360, G25 GT SP $43,560, G20 Astina $45,260, G25 GT SP AWD $45,560, G25 Astina $46,760, G25 Astina AWD $48,760 before ORC (CarExpert June 2026 table). Mazda’s site advertises Pure from $33,990 drive-away (confirm live).

Who it suits: buyers who want a sharper drive and a more premium cabin feel than many small SUVs, and who will accept a smaller boot for that trade.

Watch for: ANCAP’s older five-star result for CX-30 has expired for newer builds under updated rules (CarExpert notes unrated status for vehicles built from 1 January 2026 under the old score’s expiry). Check the build date and current ANCAP listing for the VIN you buy. Real-world fuel use can climb in city traffic. Vision Technology Package (about $2,000 on Pure/Evolve in CarExpert’s options list) is worth pricing if you want surround camera and traffic support on lower grades.

Mazda CX-5: next-generation medium five-seater

The Mazda CX-5 is the volume nameplate: more than 325,000 Australian sales since the first generation, and still the centre of Mazda’s medium SUV story. The third generation is priced from under $40,000 before ORC with AWD and a 2.5-litre petrol as standard across five grades.

Mazda CX-5 • Detail

1 / 10

Size and seats: five seats only. Official / RACV dimension comparison puts the new car at about 4690 mm long, 1860 mm wide, 1695 mm high, 2815 mm wheelbase (up on the previous generation). Boot about 466 litres with rear seats up (RACV citing Mazda). Closer in exterior size to Outlander / X-Trail class, still without a third row.

Powertrains at launch: G25 2.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, 132 kW / 242 Nm on 91 RON, six-speed automatic, i-Activ AWD only. Claimed combined fuel use 7.4 L/100 km (Mazda Australia). No hybrid at launch. Mazda executives have told Australian media a Skyactiv-Z hybrid is expected for Australia around 2028 (RACV). Turbo petrol and 2.0-litre entry engines from the old range do not carry over.

Optional trim packs: black/white Maztex on Touring, or tan leather on GT SP / Akera, $1,000 each (Mazda pricing release). Mazda’s CX-5 page has also shown G25 Pure from $43,990 drive-away style messaging: treat that as a labelled drive-away campaign, not the MLP column above.

Status: Mazda Australia’s March 2026 pricing release said mid-2026 arrival with deliveries shortly after. RACV reported orders open with deliveries from June or July 2026. As of early October 2026, treat the next-gen CX-5 as the current order path, while confirming local stock timing with your dealer. Previous-generation (P model) CX-5 may still appear as limited run-out with separate offers.

Who it suits: families who want a mainstream five-seat medium SUV with AWD, a dense dealer network, and familiar Mazda ownership without stepping up to CX-60 money.

SOURCE CONFLICT: Mazda Australia’s March 2026 CX-5 pricing release lists a 9-inch central screen on Pure (and a garbled 6-inch line on Akera in the same release), while RACV’s March 2026 feature cites 12.9-inch screens on most grades and a 15.6-inch unit on Akera. Prefer the live mazda.com.au configurator / brochure for the VIN you order; do not publish a single screen size as settled until Ops confirms.

Watch for: no hybrid until the later Skyactiv-Z program (see also our note on Mazda EVs and CX-5 hybrid timing). Rivals such as RAV4 Hybrid, Tucson Hybrid and Sportage Hybrid will undercut claimed fuel use. Interior controls move heavily to the large touchscreen (12.9-inch on most grades; 15.6-inch on Akera per Mazda/RACV). Drive both Pure and Touring before you pay for the mid grades. ANCAP: Mazda has promoted a five-star result for the new CX-5; confirm the Australian rating page for the build you buy.

Mazda CX-6e: electric medium SUV

The Mazda CX-6e is Mazda Australia’s first mainstream battery-electric SUV: a five-seat medium EV with a long wheelbase (about 2902 mm) and a living-room style cabin brief.

Mazda CX-6e • Detail

1 / 9

Powertrain: single rear motor, 190 kW / 290 Nm, 78 kWh LFP battery, CCS Type 2. Claimed up to 484 km WLTP combined on GT (Mazda Australia). DC charge 30-80% in as little as 15 minutes on the official claim. Braked towing up to 1500 kg on Mazda’s materials (confirm grade sheet).

Price from (official MLP): GT $53,990; Azami $56,990. Warm beige interior trim $1,000 optional. First deliveries expected from September 2026 per Mazda’s April 2026 pricing announcement; confirm live delivery timing with dealers in October 2026.

Who it suits: households with off-street charging who want a Mazda-badged EV and are comparing against Model Y, Sealion 7, EV5 and similar mid-$50k before-ORC EVs in our electric SUV under $60k guide. Home charging context: EV home charging guide.

Watch for: RWD only; no AWD variant in the launch Australian price list. Pre-order / early-delivery timing can slip. Warranty and battery booklet terms matter as much as the WLTP number. Treat early cars as arriving rather than as a long-established retail volume model.

Mazda CX-60: premium five-seat Large Architecture entry

The Mazda CX-60 is the five-seat gateway to Mazda’s Large Architecture: more premium cabin presentation than CX-5, with inline-six mild hybrids and a PHEV option.

Mazda CX-60 • Detail

1 / 9

Size and seats: medium-large five-seater. More rear and cargo room than CX-30; no third row (that is CX-80 / CX-90 territory).

Powertrains (2026 simplified ladder): G25 petrol RWD on Pure / Evolve / Touring; G40e petrol and D50e diesel mild-hybrid AWD priced equally on matching grades; P50e plug-in hybrid AWD at a $5,000 step over the matching G40e/D50e grade (Mazda Australia July 2026 large SUV update).

Price from (official MLP excluding LCT, 2026): Pure G25 RWD $45,640; Pure G40e/D50e AWD $51,640; Pure P50e $56,640; range extends through Evolve, Touring, GT Vision, Azami, Azami SP and Azami Takumi to about $76,840 for top P50e grades. Mazda’s retail site has also shown G25 Pure drive-away figures in the high $40k band: label those separately from MLP.

Who it suits: buyers who want six-cylinder refinement or a plug-in hybrid without seven seats, and who will pay above CX-5 money for the step up.

Watch for: LCT may apply on higher grades. PHEV value depends on charging. Ride and tyre noise vary by wheel size; test the grade you will actually buy. 2026 updates add Front Cross Traffic Brake, Cruising Traffic Support with Driver Emergency Assist, and Mazda Connected Services on CX-60 (Mazda Australia).

Mazda CX-70: large five-seat coupe-SUV

The Mazda CX-70 uses the large platform as a five-seat SUV with a more coupe-leaning stance: space and six-cylinder mild-hybrid power without a third row.

Mazda CX-70 • D50e Azami SP • Variant

1 / 9

Powertrains: G50e petrol or D50e diesel mild-hybrid AWD on GT, Azami and Azami SP (equal pricing on matching petrol/diesel grades for 2026).

Price from (official MLP excluding LCT): GT $73,020; Azami $80,020; Azami SP $83,520.

Who it suits: couples or small families who want Large Architecture ride and power without paying for unused third-row hardware.

Watch for: overlaps on price with well-equipped CX-80 / CX-90 seven-seaters. Be clear whether you will ever need a third row before you lock in CX-70. Confirm towing and payload on the exact powertrain sheet if you tow.

Mazda CX-80: six or seven seats with broad powertrain choice

The Mazda CX-80 is Mazda’s value-leaning large three-row hybrid SUV: six or seven seats, with petrol mild hybrid, diesel mild hybrid and PHEV paths.

Mazda CX-80 • D50e Azami • Variant

1 / 10

Size and seats: large SUV, 6 or 7 seat configurations. Third-row practicality is more believable than a medium crossover, but still test with your child seats and luggage. See also the 7-seat family SUV guide.

Powertrains: G40e / D50e AWD across Pure, Touring, GT, Azami and Azami SP; P50e available from Touring upward on the 2026 table. Mazda added a Pure grade with the 3.3-litre e-Skyactiv D mild-hybrid diesel for 2026 as an extra entry path.

Price from (official MLP excluding LCT): Pure G40e/D50e $56,100; Touring $63,100 (P50e $68,100); GT $70,100 (P50e $75,100); Azami $75,300 (P50e $80,300); Azami SP $80,300 (P50e $85,300).

Who it suits: families who need a third row and want Mazda’s Large Architecture with a lower entry than CX-90, including diesel torque or PHEV commuting.

Watch for: seven-seat boot space with all rows up is still limited compared with people movers. Compare running costs against Kluger Hybrid, Sorento Hybrid and Santa Fe Hybrid rather than assuming the diesel is always cheaper. PHEV premium is now $5,000 over the matching combustion grade on Mazda’s 2026 structure: only “cheap” if you plug in.

Mazda CX-90: flagship six or seven-seat large SUV

The Mazda CX-90 sits at the top of the combustion / mild-hybrid large range: six or seven seats, G50e or D50e mild-hybrid AWD, and the richest equipment ladder (Touring through Azami Takumi).

Mazda CX-90 • D50e Azami • Variant

1 / 10

Price from (official MLP excluding LCT): Touring $66,100; GT $75,100; Azami $82,100; Azami SP and Azami Takumi $87,100. Sports Appearance Package is standardised on CX-90 GT for 2026 (Mazda Australia).

Who it suits: buyers who want the flagship Mazda three-row experience and six-cylinder mild-hybrid character, and who will budget on-roads plus any LCT on upper grades.

Watch for: CX-80 covers similar seat counts for less money on many trims. CX-90 does not take the P50e PHEV in the 2026 Australian price table (PHEV stays on CX-60 and CX-80). Confirm six vs seven seat build before you order.

Other options worth considering

Outside Mazda, shoppers comparing the same jobs often look at:

  • Small / value: MG ZS, Chery Tiggo 4, GWM Haval Jolion, Honda HR-V, Hyundai Kona (and budget drive-away listings in our under $25k drive-away roundup).

  • Medium hybrid: Toyota RAV4 Hybrid, Hyundai Tucson Hybrid, Kia Sportage Hybrid, Mitsubishi Outlander (petrol and PHEV), Nissan X-Trail e-Power.

  • Electric medium: Tesla Model Y, BYD Sealion 7, Kia EV5, Geely EX5 and others in the EV SUV under $60k guide, alongside CX-6e.

  • Seven seat: Kia Sorento, Hyundai Santa Fe, Toyota Kluger, Mitsubishi Outlander, Isuzu MU-X, Ford Everest, and CX-80 / CX-90 in the 7-seat guide.

Those alternatives are context, not a second full shortlist inside this Mazda range article.

Coming soon / delivery notes

Mazda CX-6e: official pre-order pricing from $53,990 MLP; Mazda said first deliveries from September 2026. In early October 2026, treat it as an arriving EV: confirm dealer delivery date, battery warranty booklet, and charging hardware before you pay a deposit. Specs and pricing remain subject to the live mazda.com.au sheet.

Next-gen CX-5 hybrid (Skyactiv-Z): not on sale. Australian media briefings point to roughly 2028 local timing after a North American start. Do not budget a hybrid CX-5 as an available 2026 retail choice. See Mazda EVs ahead / CX-5 hybrid timing.

Outgoing CX-5 (previous generation): may still appear as limited stock with separate drive-away campaigns. Do not mix its price ladder with the next-gen Pure-from-$39,990 MLP table.

Ownership notes that apply across the range

Mazda Australia’s consumer warranty messaging for these SUVs is commonly five years / unlimited kilometres, with capped-price servicing programs that vary by model. Always read the schedule for the VIN. Service pricing on CX-30 Pure was illustrated by CarExpert at roughly $2,311 over five years / $3,324 over seven years on capped-price examples: treat that as model-specific, not universal.

Registration, stamp duty and compulsory injury insurance are state based. Comprehensive insurance is separate; start with CTP vs third party vs comprehensive if you are clarifying cover types.

What the top Google results miss

A search for Mazda SUVs in Australia in late 2026 still surfaces manufacturer range pages, single-model price stories and medium-SUV roundups that treat CX-5 as the whole story. Few pages put CX-3 through CX-90 plus CX-6e in one comparison with a consistent before-ORC basis and clear run-out versus arriving labels.

This guide is longer on purpose. It spells out when a drive-away banner on mazda.com.au is a campaign, when Large Architecture prices exclude LCT, and when the next-gen CX-5’s AWD-only petrol launch differs from hybrid rivals. Use the table for orientation, then the model sections for Suits / Watch for detail.

Grade ladders worth knowing

Mazda reuses grade names across the range (Pure, Evolve, Touring, GT, Azami and similar), but the equipment jump is not identical from CX-30 to CX-90. A Touring CX-30 is still a small SUV; a Touring CX-90 is a large three-row flagship path. Compare grades inside one nameplate, not across the whole lineup by name alone.

On Large Architecture for 2026, Mazda equalised G40e/G50e petrol and D50e diesel pricing on matching grades and cut the P50e step to $5,000 over the equivalent combustion mild hybrid. That matters if you were quoting older PHEV premiums from 2024 to 2025 media tables.

Dealer, service and warranty reality

Mazda’s national dealer footprint remains a practical reason many buyers stay in the brand after sampling cheaper Chinese drive-away offers. Capped-price servicing length and dollars still vary by model: ask for the schedule printed for your VIN, not a brochure average. Warranty length is only useful if a dealer is within a sensible drive for booked work.

If running costs decide the purchase, do not rely on this range guide alone. Pair it with cheapest family cars to run and petrol versus hybrid versus electric, then get insurance quotes for the drivers who will be listed.

Bottom line

Mazda’s 2026 Australian SUV range is unusually wide for one brand: CX-3 and CX-30 for cities, next-gen CX-5 for mainstream five-seat families, CX-6e for electric shoppers, CX-60 / CX-70 for premium five-seat Large Architecture buyers, and CX-80 / CX-90 for six or seven seats.

For buyers prioritising the lowest Mazda SUV list price, start with the CX-3 Pure. For buyers prioritising a small SUV drive and optional AWD, look at the CX-30. For buyers prioritising a medium five-seater with standard AWD under about $40,000 before ORC, the next-gen CX-5 Pure is the clear Mazda path. For buyers prioritising a plug-in or six-cylinder five-seater, step to CX-60. For buyers prioritising three rows, compare CX-80 entry pricing against CX-90 equipment. For buyers prioritising a Mazda EV, the CX-6e is the nameplate to watch as deliveries ramp.

Pick seats and charging reality first, then the badge.

Only a handful of new cars can be driven away for less than $25,000 in Australia right now, and the price often depends on your state and when the offer ends. We checked every contender on official Australian sites in October 2026, from the BYD Atto 1 and MG3 to the Kia Picanto, Suzuki Swift Hybrid and small SUVs like the Chery Tiggo 4 and Haval Jolion. Here is what each one costs on the road, who it suits and what to watch for.

Families comparing SUVs in 2026 should look past the sticker price. Fuel, charging, servicing, insurance and registration decide what a family car really costs each year, and a cheap seven-seater can be dear to run. This guide uses official consumption figures and the NRMA's 2026 cost tables to show which small, medium and seven-seat cars stay cheaper once those bills are included.

The best seven-seat SUV depends on how your family will actually use the third row. For 2026, the Kia Sorento is one of the strongest all-round family choices; the Hyundai Santa Fe stands out for family-focused packaging; the Mitsubishi Outlander gives buyers a lower-cost seven-seat option; the Mazda CX-80 offers an excellent powertrain choice; the Toyota Kluger keeps hybrid ownership straightforward; the Ford Everest is the pick here for serious towing and touring, and the Hyundai IONIQ 9 is the fully electric alternative.
