Jaecoo has added a Black Edition to its MY27 J7 plug-in hybrid range, priced at $49,990 drive-away. The offer applies to new stock ordered from participating dealers between 1 and 30 November 2026, while stocks last, and excludes metallic paint and options.

The J7 SHS-P Black Edition is based on the Summit AWD, which is priced at $47,990 drive-away. That makes the darker look a $2,000 step up, with no change to the mechanical specification. Cars are arriving in dealerships during November, and customer test drives are scheduled to start from mid-month.

The Black Edition price is a November drive-away offer

The $49,990 figure is a drive-away offer price, which means it already includes registration, stamp duty, CTP insurance and dealer delivery. Jaecoo has not published a separate manufacturer list price before on-road costs for the Black Edition, and it has not confirmed what the price will be after the November promotion ends.

Because these are drive-away prices, compare them with other brands' drive-away figures rather than their prices before on-road costs. Our guide to drive-away versus list prices explains what each figure includes.

Gloss-black styling replaces the chrome

The Black Edition comes in Carbon Black paint and swaps the regular model's chrome detailing for gloss-black finishes. That includes the waterfall grille, exterior trims, mirror housings and roof rails, with black 19-inch alloy wheels. Inside, it gets a black headliner and dark pillar trims.

Equipment otherwise follows the Summit AWD. Highlights include a 14.8-inch touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital instrument display, heated and ventilated front seats, an eight-speaker Sony audio system, a panoramic sunroof, a powered tailgate, a head-up display, a 360-degree camera and wireless phone charging.

It uses the most powerful J7 powertrain

The Jaecoo J7 Black Edition uses the AWD version of Jaecoo's Super Hybrid System. A 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine works with electric motors on the front and rear axles for combined outputs of 260kW and 490Nm. The front-wheel-drive SHS-P models make 205kW and 365Nm.

  • Battery. 18.4kWh lithium iron phosphate.
  • Charging. DC fast charging at up to 40kW, with a claimed 30 to 80 per cent charge in about 20 minutes.
  • Electric range. Up to 100km (NEDC) is claimed for front-wheel-drive SHS-P models. Jaecoo says the AWD version has a shorter electric range.
  • Warranty. Eight years and unlimited kilometres for the vehicle and the high-voltage battery, with capped-price servicing and up to eight years of roadside assistance.

Check the finance offer before you sign

Jaecoo's November sale advertises 1.88 per cent comparison rate finance with no deposit and no balloon, and the Black Edition build page displays that rate. The fine print we read, however, lists eligible MY27 J7 SHS models as the 2WD Track, 2WD Summit and AWD Summit, and the November gift card offer specifically excludes the Black Edition. Ask your dealer to confirm in writing whether the low-rate finance applies to the Black Edition before you commit.

Who the Black Edition suits

At $49,990 drive-away, the Black Edition is one of the more powerful plug-in hybrid SUVs available for around $50,000 on the road. It suits buyers who want AWD traction and a distinctive look, and who can charge at home to make use of the electric range. Buyers who do not care about the styling can save $2,000 with the mechanically identical Summit AWD.

If you want a smaller and cheaper option from the same brand, the Jaecoo J5 range starts from $25,990 drive-away. For more choice, see our list of the best hybrid and plug-in hybrid SUVs under $50,000. You can also check the offer details on Jaecoo's official Black Edition page.
