Forthing Australia is adding a $2500 Visa gift card to new in-stock Electric and Range Extender Hybrid SUVs bought and delivered between 1 November and 31 December 2026. Buyers also get a portable electric vehicle charger that Forthing values at $279 RRP. The offer runs at participating dealers while stock lasts.

The Dongfeng-backed brand already sells its mid-size SUV with drive-away pricing from $36,990, so the gift card lands on top of prices that were sharp to begin with. Here is how the deal stacks up and the fine print worth checking before you sign.

Prices and what the gift card does to them

Forthing sells one mid-size SUV body in two drivetrains, the fully electric Forthing Electric and the Forthing Range Extender Hybrid, each in Luxury and Exclusive grades. The SUV launched locally under the Taikon 5 name, which still appears on our Forthing Taikon 5 model page.

ModelDrive-away priceEffective outlay after $2500 card
Range Extender Hybrid Luxury$36,990$34,490
Electric Luxury$38,990$36,490
Range Extender Hybrid Exclusive$40,490$37,990
Electric Exclusive$42,490$39,990

The effective outlay column is our own sum to show the value of the card. It is not a price Forthing advertises. You still pay the full drive-away price for the car, and the card arrives later.

The fine print that matters

  • Delivery deadline. The car has to be purchased and delivered between 1 November and 31 December 2026. A signed order that is not delivered by 31 December does not qualify, so ask the dealer to confirm the vehicle is physically in stock.
  • New stock only. The offer covers new stock vehicles at participating dealers while stocks last.
  • It is not a discount on the contract. The card is issued up to four weeks after delivery as a virtual Visa gift card. Because it is paid after the sale, it does not reduce the amount you finance or the price on which stamp duty is calculated.
  • Options cost extra. Forthing's drive-away prices apply to vehicles without options.

If you would rather have money off the price, it is fair to ask the dealer whether they will negotiate on the car instead. Some dealers prefer to keep the advertised price and let the factory gift card do the work, but it costs nothing to ask.

The Range Extender Hybrid is the better fit if you regularly drive long distances away from fast chargers. Its petrol engine works as a generator, and with up to 170km of electric range many owners could do most weekday driving on home charging alone. The Electric suits buyers who can charge at home and rarely take long road trips, but its 80kW DC peak is modest, so Forthing quotes about 30 minutes for a 30 to 80 per cent top-up. Our guide to range extenders versus plug-in hybrids explains how the two layouts differ.

Warranty and one check before you buy

Forthing covers the vehicle for seven years or 200,000km and the high-voltage battery for eight years or 200,000km. It says the battery will hold at least 70 per cent of its original capacity during that period.

Because this offer is aimed at existing stock, ask the dealer to confirm in writing that any open recall work has been completed before delivery. Forthing has previously recalled Electric SUVs over a possible loss of drive, which we covered in our Forthing Electric recall report.
