Ford Ranger and Everest recall, 1085 vehicles with blank touchscreen risk
Ford Australia has recalled 1085 examples of the Ranger ute and Everest SUV because the central touchscreen can stop working. If the screen goes blank, the reversing camera image will not be displayed when the vehicle is in reverse.
The recall was published on 21 October 2026 under the federal recall number REC-006748, and Ford’s own campaign number is 26C42.

What is the fault
Ford says a manufacturing issue can cause the 10.1-inch centre display to stop working and go blank. Without the screen, the driver loses the rear-view camera image while reversing, which reduces rear visibility and increases the risk of serious injury or death to people behind the vehicle.
The rear-view camera is a mandatory safety feature on new light vehicles, which is why a screen fault like this triggers a formal safety recall.
What owners should do
Ford will contact affected owners in writing and ask them to book their vehicle in with an authorised Ford dealer, where the repair will be done free of charge. Owners can check whether their vehicle is included by entering its VIN on the federal government’s Vehicle Recalls website, or call Ford on 13 36 73. Until the fix is done, take extra care when reversing and check mirrors and over your shoulder.
Another recall for the Ranger
This is the latest in a run of recalls for Australia’s best-selling vehicle. In August, Ford recalled about 13,907 Ranger double cabs over a side-curtain airbag fault, as covered in our Ranger airbag recall story. Despite that, the Ranger still topped the charts in our September new car sales report.
