Lepas L6 electric SUV priced from $47,990 before on-road costs ahead of first deliveries in November

Lepas, the new upmarket brand from the Chery Group, has confirmed Australian pricing for its first model. The L6 Signature mid-size electric SUV costs $47,990 before on-road costs, with orders open now and first customer deliveries scheduled for November 2026.

Lepas sits above Chery in the group's line-up and will be sold through Chery dealers and standalone showrooms, with around 40 sites targeted by the end of 2026. Test drives are expected to start at dealers in early November.

Standard equipment

The L6 comes in one well-equipped Signature grade. Standard features include 19-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, a panoramic sunroof with powered shade, a 13.2-inch portrait touchscreen, an 8.88-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 50W wireless phone charger and an eight-speaker Sony sound system.

Inside, beige synthetic leather trim is paired with heated and ventilated power front seats. Safety equipment includes seven airbags, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, a surround-view camera and automatic parking assist. A full ANCAP rating has not yet been published.

Khaki White is the standard colour. Premium colours are normally an $800 option, but Lepas is including them at no cost for a limited time, and Carbon Crystal Black is reserved for pre-order customers.

How it compares

At $47,990 the L6 costs about $6000 more than the similarly sized BYD Atto 3 and Geely EX5, which both start at $41,990 before on-road costs. It sits below larger rivals such as the BYD Sealion 7.

More Lepas models on the way

The L6 is the first of five model lines planned for Australia. The smaller L4 electric SUV is expected in December 2026, a plug-in hybrid L6 is expected in 2027, and larger L8 and L9 SUVs are expected to follow from 2027. Exact timing for these later models has not been confirmed.

Our take

The L6 is not the cheapest mid-size electric SUV, but it packs plenty of equipment and a long warranty into one simple grade. How Lepas builds its dealer network and resale reputation will decide how well it competes.
