Hyundai Australia lists the all-new Tucson as coming in 2027

· 7 Views · 5 min read

Hyundai Australia has opened an interest page for an all-new Tucson, and the only timing on it is coming soon in 2027. The page calls the car a modern hybrid SUV, shows an overseas model, and says Australian specifications and features may differ. It names a Tucson XRT. It does not give a month, a price, or an Australian power or fuel figure.

A mid-year launch and a hybrid-only Australian range are not written there. The global premiere still lists petrol, hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains, with other markets following during 2027 and no Australian month.

What Hyundai Australia has published

The page introduces the all-new Tucson under its Art of Steel design language and describes it as a modern hybrid SUV. A second block promises a roomier cabin, better rear-seat comfort and more thoughtful storage for commuting and weekends. None of that includes a millimetre, a kilowatt or a dollar.

The XRT is the only variant named. Hyundai Australia says it is available for buyers who want a more adventurous look, with exclusive design elements, a bold front grille, distinctive wheel-arch cladding and rugged styling. XRT Pro is not mentioned. Nor is a tow rating, or a choice of front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.

The form collects a registration of interest. Those details are shared with the local dealer, who will make contact when the car arrives. The page does not call this an order, a deposit or a price hold, and it does not say how many grades Australia will get.

What is still open

Coming soon in 2027 is a calendar window. It is not a model-year badge and it is not a month. The page does not say mid-2027 or the first half of 2027. A mid-year date is ahead of the Australian page checked on 4 October 2026.

Describing a modern hybrid SUV is not a grade list. The page does not say petrol is dropped, and it does not say a plug-in hybrid is ruled out or that one will arrive later. No price of any basis is shown, so none is guessed here. No Australian power, torque or fuel-use number is shown for the new model. There is also no local crash-test result. A safety target in a global document is not an ANCAP rating.

What the global premiere does and does not settle

Hyundai Motor Company unveiled the all-new Tucson in New York on 1 October 2026. The company announcement, dated 2 October 2026 Korea standard time, says the car launches in Korea later this year, with North America, Europe and other global markets to follow in 2027. Australia is not given its own line. That supports a 2027 arrival somewhere in the global plan. It does not say the middle of 2027.

The global specification table lists petrol engines, a hybrid and a plug-in hybrid. The plug-in hybrid is given as 292 ps, with an estimated 81 km of electric range and a 7.2 kW onboard charger, in select markets. Australia is not named in that split, so the table is not a local range, and the car is not described as hybrid-only worldwide. Equipment such as Pleos Connect varies by market. Hyundai Australia's own warning, that local specifications may differ, still applies.

Global measurements, not a local spec sheet

These long-wheelbase figures are from the premiere. Hyundai Australia has not confirmed them for Australia. Changes in brackets are against the previous model in that global table.

Global long-wheelbase item

Premiere figure

Length

4,700 mm, stated as 60 mm longer

Width

1,905 mm, stated as 40 mm wider

Height

1,685 mm, stated as 20 mm taller, or 1,700 mm with a roof rack

Wheelbase

2,785 mm, stated as 30 mm longer

Ground clearance

180 mm standard, 210 mm on XRT Pro

Doors and seats

Opening angle 83 degrees, five seats

Hybrid hardware in the global table

13 kW P1 motor plus 47.7 kW P2 motor, 1.49 kWh battery, six-speed automatic

Hybrid output in the global table

236 to 245 ps on the Korean column and 233 hp on the US column, with 38.7 kgf·m. No Australian kilowatt figure is published

Hybrid economy target

Up to 42 mpg for a North American front-drive hybrid on 17-inch wheels. Not an ADR 81/02 figure

Hyundai Australia names the XRT only. The global notes put XRT Pro in select markets, which is silence rather than a formal local ban. North American hybrid towing of up to 3,000 pounds is not an Australian tow rating.

The Tucson on sale now

The current Hyundai Tucson is still listed with petrol and hybrid power, so the showroom car is not hybrid-only. The Tucson Hybrid presentation shows 172 kW and 367 Nm from a turbocharged 1.6-litre hybrid and six-speed automatic, and 5.3 L/100 km combined. That fuel figure is an ADR 81/02 laboratory result for comparison.

The current towing note allows 1,900 kg braked for the hybrid and 1,650 kg braked for the petrol, with 750 kg unbraked for both and a 100 kg maximum ball download. Those numbers are for today's Tucson only.

Current grade still listed

Powertrain

Tucson and Elite

2.0-litre petrol, six-speed automatic, front-wheel drive

Tucson Hybrid

1.6-litre turbo hybrid, six-speed automatic, front-wheel drive

Elite Hybrid, including N Line pack

1.6-litre turbo hybrid, six-speed automatic, front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive

Premium Hybrid, including N Line pack

1.6-litre turbo hybrid, six-speed automatic, all-wheel drive

No current dollar price is quoted here. The site calculator builds a personalised drive-away estimate from the list price plus registration, CTP, delivery, stamp duty and options. Using one of those estimates as a national price before on-road costs would mix two pricing types. For running costs, see petrol, hybrid and electric costs and the guide to hybrid and plug-in hybrid SUVs. Buyers who need a larger Hyundai can look at the Hyundai Santa Fe, which is a different model.

How to use the interest list

The official local facts are narrow. The all-new Tucson is coming in 2027, it is described as a hybrid SUV, the pictures are an overseas model, and an XRT look is named. The global account adds a 2027 rollout beyond Korea and a choice of petrol, hybrid and plug-in hybrid somewhere in the world. Local grades, outputs, fuel use, towing, safety rating and price are unpublished. Registering interest is a way to hear from a dealer. It is not evidence of a mid-2027 hybrid-only price list.
