Tesla and Polestar deliver 5,854 EVs in September as Model 3 sales jump 60 per cent

Tesla and Polestar deliver 5,854 EVs in September as Model 3 sales jump 60 percent.

The Electric Vehicle Council's September 2026 vehicle sales report records 5,854 combined Tesla and Polestar battery-electric deliveries in Australia for the month. The same note says Tesla Model 3 deliveries rose 60 percent compared with September 2025, with 1,178 Model 3 vehicles delivered. The Council stresses that this monthly series covers Tesla and Polestar only, not the entire new-vehicle market.

Deliveries are counted at the point of delivery rather than at order. The September quarter three-month average for the two brands remained at 6,199 vehicles, and year-to-date combined volume reached 43,386, described by the Council as a 77 percent increase on the same period of 2025.

Tesla Model 3 in September

Using the Council's Model 3 pair of 1,178 deliveries and a 60 percent year-on-year rise implies about 736 Model 3 deliveries in September 2025 (1,178 ÷ 1.60). That is the arithmetic behind the headline percentage, compared with September 2025, as the Electric Vehicle Council states.

How to read a Tesla-and-Polestar-only table

The Council invites other brands to supply data and notes that the monthly file is not a full market census. A strong Tesla month can move the 5,854 total even if other EV makers are having a quiet or busy September outside the file. State and territory year-to-date gains in the same note range from 45.7 per cent to 113.3 per cent across jurisdictions for the Tesla and Polestar set.

4,476 of 5,854 is about 76 per cent of this two-brand total

The Council's accompanying line that Tesla announced a new base Model 3 priced from less than $46,000 before on-road costs sits outside the sales math. Treat that as separate pricing news when you compare the Tesla Model 3 and Model 3 price update.

Buyer takeaway

September's two-brand total of 5,854 and the Model 3's 60 percent lift on September 2025 are the verified Electric Vehicle Council headlines. Model Y still supplied most of the volume inside that file.
