Honda Avancier Australia release date, price and seven seats explained

· 2 Views · 5 min read

Existing China-market Honda Avancier five-seat petrol SUV, not the upcoming Australian Avancier.

The Honda Avancier is coming to Australia, but Honda Australia has not yet given it a price, a release date or a seat count. On 6 November 2026 Honda Australia opened a "coming soon" expression-of-interest page and called the all-new Avancier "the first vehicle of a new generation". Honda's teaser video carries "Honda Hybrid" badging, the name of its next-generation hybrid system. Everything else, including seven seats, Thai production and a 2027 arrival, is reported or expected rather than confirmed.

In short, if you need a large family SUV in the next few months, the Avancier is not an option yet. If you can wait until well into 2027, it is worth registering interest and watching for the full reveal, whose timing needs clarification between the Japanese teaser reference and Thai premiere reporting. Below we explain what is official, what is reported, and how it compares with the large SUVs already on sale here.

Honda Avancier for Australia is confirmed by Honda Australia

Honda Australia's own Avancier page says the model is "coming soon" and invites buyers to "register your details to witness the live unveiling". It describes a "bold silhouette, distinctive lighting signature and a confident presence", and says the car points to "the future direction of Honda design and innovation". Interested buyers can leave details with a preferred Honda Centre.

That is a clear signal the car is planned for Australia, but it is not the same as a confirmed on-sale date. Honda Australia has not published grades, specifications or timing, and it says more details will follow.

The Honda Avancier release date in Australia is expected in 2027

Japanese reporting quotes Honda's teaser description referring to a November 2026 reveal, while Thai reporting points to a 1 December premiere. These may be different milestones; a single definitive reveal date has not been independently established here. Honda's global newsroom says models with Honda Hybrid will roll out globally "starting in 2027". Reports from Japan and Southeast Asia say Avancier production is expected to start in Thailand in early 2027, in right-hand drive.

Put together, a 2027 Australian launch is the realistic expectation. People searching "Honda Avancier 2026" should note the car is being revealed in 2026, but no 2026 Australian showroom date has been given. Treat any specific month as unconfirmed until Honda Australia announces it.

Honda Avancier price in Australia has not been announced

There is no Australian price yet, either before on-road costs or drive-away. Overseas prices for the older China-only Avancier are not a guide, because the new car is a different vehicle with a different powertrain and will be priced for a different market.

What we can say is where it should sit. The Avancier is expected to be positioned above the Honda CR-V, which is currently Honda's largest SUV in Australia. Expect pricing to be pitched against hybrid large SUVs, but wait for Honda Australia's figures before budgeting.

Seven seats are expected but not yet confirmed

Honda has not stated a seat count. Its teaser shows a long, upright body with a large rear glasshouse, and multiple international reports describe the new Avancier as a three-row, seven-seat SUV. That would make it Honda Australia's first genuine large seven-seater since the MDX was dropped in the mid-2000s.

Today, the only seven-seat Honda here is the CR-V VTi X7, a mid-size SUV whose third row suits children rather than adults. A bigger three-row Avancier would fill that gap, but until the reveal, the five versus seven seat question remains unanswered.

The China Avancier and the new Australian Avancier are different cars

Many searches mix up two vehicles. Since 2016, Honda's Guangqi Honda joint venture has built an Avancier SUV for China. It is a petrol, five-seat crossover and has never been sold in Australia. The name was also used on a Japan-only Accord-based wagon around the turn of the century.

The new Avancier being teased for Australia and Japan is all-new. It introduces Honda's next design language and the Honda Hybrid system. Photos, prices and specs of the China model, including its interior, should not be read as previews of the Australian car.

Honda Avancier availability differs between countries

The Avancier name does not identify the same vehicle in every country. The existing Chinese petrol SUV is already on sale, while the all-new hybrid being teased for Australia is a separate vehicle. No confirmed on-sale date for the new model has been established in the markets below.

CountryAvailability and confirmation
ChinaThe existing Guangqi Honda Avancier, called 冠道, is an established five-seat petrol SUV from the nameplate introduced in 2016. The official Chinese model page and Chinese specification page concern that separate vehicle, not the new Australian hybrid.
JapanThe new Avancier has been teased. A Japanese report quotes Honda's teaser description referring to a November 2026 reveal, but no confirmed Japanese on-sale date or price has been established.
ThailandThe new model has appeared in teaser reporting. A Thai report points to a 1 December 2026 premiere, but that date has not been independently verified against an opened Honda Thailand announcement. A premiere is not a confirmed customer-delivery date.
IndiaNo official Avancier announcement was identified in the material checked. That is not evidence that the model will never be offered there.
AustraliaHonda Australia's official expression-of-interest page says coming soon. It does not provide an Australian price, on-sale date or final specifications.

The November reveal reference and reported December Thai premiere may refer to different milestones. Until Honda clarifies the programme, neither should be treated as a firm Australian launch date.

The existing Chinese Avancier illustrates the nameplate history

The manufacturer image below shows the existing China-market five-seat petrol SUV only. Its body, cabin and specifications are not a preview of the upcoming Australian Avancier.

Honda Hybrid power is confirmed, while engine details are still unknown

The teaser confirms Honda Hybrid branding. Honda says this system builds on its two-motor e:HEV hybrid, and will be paired with a newly developed platform focused on rigidity and lower weight, a Motion Management System, and a newly developed electric all-wheel-drive system (e-AWD) across the new hybrid family. Honda plans 15 models with Honda Hybrid globally by the end of March 2030.

Honda has not said which engine, battery, outputs or drivetrain the Avancier will use, or whether e-AWD will be offered in Australia. It is reasonable to expect a self-charging hybrid with no plug, in line with Honda's current e:HEV models, but fuel use and towing figures are not known.

Interior, boot space and dimensions will be shown at the reveal

Honda has released no interior images, dimensions or boot capacity for the new Avancier. Any cabin photos labelled "Avancier interior" online are likely of the older China model. Honda has said its next-generation models will bring new interior technology, but specific screens and features for the Avancier have not been confirmed. We will update this story when official interior images are released.

The Avancier will face the Kluger, Santa Fe and Sorento

If it arrives as a hybrid seven-seater, the Avancier will compete with established large SUVs including the Toyota Kluger, Hyundai Santa Fe and Kia Sorento, all of which already offer hybrid versions here. Newer rivals include the Mazda CX-80, Volkswagen Tayron and BYD Sealion 8. Honda will need sharp pricing and a usable third row to stand out.

Families should compare current seven-seaters before waiting

Waiting makes sense if you like Honda, want a hybrid and can hold off until 2027. If your need is more urgent, shortlist current models now and use our guide to the best 7-seat family SUVs in Australia. Registering interest on Honda Australia's page costs nothing and does not commit you to buy.
