Geely Battleship 700 plug-in hybrid SUV confirmed for Australia in the second half of 2027
Geely Auto Australia has confirmed the Battleship 700 off-road SUV for local launch in the second half of 2027. The brand's 18 September 2026 announcement, still live on geely.com.au, groups the Battleship 700 with the MONJARO EM-i SUV and the Emgrand L EM-i sedan as three electrified models previewed at Sydney's Everything Electric Show. MONJARO EM-i and Emgrand L EM-i are slated for the first half of 2027. Battleship 700 is the later flagship.
Exact Australian launch timing inside that half-year, full local specification and pricing will be announced closer to on-sale, Geely says. Overseas mechanical figures in the same release are therefore context, not a locked Australian order sheet.
What Geely Australia has confirmed
The Battleship 700 is described as a five-seat, off-road-focused SUV with a plug-in hybrid drivetrain. It is one of six Geely models the company says it plans to launch in Australia during 2027. By the end of that year, Geely wants a span across small car, mid-size SUV, mid-size sedan, and off-road SUV segments, building on vehicles already linked from the Geely new-car index such as the Geely EX5.
2027 Geely model in the announcement | Australian timing named | Role described |
|---|---|---|
MONJARO EM-i SUV | First half of 2027 | Five-seat plug-in hybrid mid-size SUV |
Emgrand L EM-i sedan | First half of 2027 | Five-seat plug-in hybrid sedan |
Battleship 700 | Second half of 2027 | Five-seat plug-in hybrid off-road SUV |
Pre-order incentives mentioned in that September release applied to MONJARO EM-i and Emgrand L EM-i between 18 and 30 September 2026. They do not extend to Battleship 700 in the text Geely published.
Overseas figures Geely quoted, still subject to local change
For markets outside Australia, Geely describes a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, a 47 kWh battery, a tri-motor all-wheel-drive layout with an integrated differential lock, combined system output of 830 kW, and up to 170 km of pure electric driving. Off-road notes in the same overseas block include 20-inch wheels, 233 mm of ground clearance, wading up to 800 mm, and a Waltz on-the-spot U-turn function. Cabin features listed overseas include a panoramic sunroof, 12.3-inch and 15.6-inch screens, a heated and cooled centre-console compartment, independent rear air-conditioning and a 23-speaker audio system.
Overseas item named by Geely Australia | Figure | Australian status |
|---|---|---|
System output | 830 kW | Not yet locked as local spec |
Battery pack | 47 kWh | Not yet locked as local spec |
Electric-only range | Up to 170 km | Test cycle not stated as ADR in the AU release |
Ground clearance | 233 mm | Overseas figure |
Wading depth | 800 mm | Overseas figure |
Australian price | Not published | To come closer to launch |
Because Geely expressly says Australian specification will be communicated closer to the latter half of 2027, none of those overseas numbers should be sold as a guaranteed local brochure line yet. Electric range without a named Australian test cycle is especially easy to over-read.
How it may sit in the off-road plug-in field
On paper, a large plug-in hybrid off-roader lands near other high-riding electrified SUVs rather than beside Geely’s smaller EX5. Shoppers already comparing rugged plug-in options can look at products such as the GWM Tank 300, remembering different sizes, outputs, and price bases. For family running-cost context across plug-in hybrids, see running a plug-in hybrid without regular charging and the hybrid and plug-in hybrid SUVs guide. Battleship 700 is unlikely to share those sub-$50,000 guides' price band if overseas flagship positioning carries through, but Geely has not set an Australian dollar figure.
What buyers should do before late 2027
Register interest through Geely’s own channels if you want dealer contact when local grades open. Do not treat a Chinese market price, a show-stand walkaround or an overseas 830 kW slide as an Australian drive-away. Ask which battery, motor count, tow rating, ANCAP status, and warranty schedule Australia will take when the local sheet appears.
The verified headline is narrow and strong. Geely Auto Australia has confirmed the Battleship 700 as a plug-in hybrid off-road SUV for the second half of 2027, with Australian specification and pricing still to come. Everything else in the overseas spec block is useful background until that local sheet lands.
