The Essence RWD uses a 77kWh NCM battery and a single rear permanent-magnet synchronous motor. The motor produces 180kW and 350Nm and sends power to the rear wheels.
MG Australia lists an official combined WLTP range of up to 530km for the Essence RWD. This is 45km more than the AWD variant, although actual range depends on conditions and driving style.
The Essence RWD accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in a claimed 7.3 seconds. It is slower than the AWD model but provides adequate performance for everyday city and highway use.

MG Australia lists Dover White, Sterling Silver Metallic, Camden Grey Metallic, Black Pearl Metallic, Stratford Gold Metallic, Piccadilly Blue Metallic and Diamond Red Metallic. Metallic colours may cost extra, and availability should be confirmed when ordering.
