2026 Lotus Emira Price in Australia

The Lotus Emira is the core internal-combustion sports car in the current Lotus Australia range and represents a modern interpretation of the company’s long-standing focus on lightness, steering feel and chassis balance. Built at Hethel in the United Kingdom, the Emira sits between traditional lightweight sports cars and more expensive supercars: it has the dramatic proportions and mid-engined layout enthusiasts expect, but it also introduces a more polished cabin, modern infotainment and useful everyday comfort compared with earlier Lotus road cars such as the Elise and Exige.

Lotus Australia currently presents the Emira as a four-model family. The four-cylinder side of the range uses a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine and an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, while the Emira V6 SE uses a supercharged 3.5-litre V6 paired with the enthusiast-focused six-speed manual gearbox. Lotus also highlights the Emira Turbo SE as the harder-edged four-cylinder choice, with revised engine and gearbox calibration, sports suspension, launch control and high-performance braking hardware. At the top of the evolving range, the Emira 420 Sport has been announced for summer 2026 with an upgraded 2.0-litre engine and additional aerodynamic and handling development.

Performance varies by version, but the Emira’s appeal is about more than acceleration figures. Lotus continues to use hydraulically assisted steering, an increasingly rare solution that provides detailed feedback through the wheel. The bonded aluminium chassis, mid-engine placement and carefully tuned suspension are designed to give the car progressive responses on Australian country roads while retaining the precision expected during enthusiastic driving. Buyers can therefore choose a more accessible dual-clutch configuration for traffic and touring or the V6 manual for a more mechanical, traditional sports-car experience.

The cabin marks a major step forward from older Lotus models. Emira provides two seats, contemporary digital displays, smartphone connectivity and a more refined mix of materials, while maintaining a low driving position and controls arranged around the driver. There is storage behind the seats and a rear luggage compartment, but practicality remains secondary to performance. Anyone needing rear seats, a large boot or family-SUV versatility will need to look elsewhere in the Lotus range or at a different category of vehicle.

Exterior design is one of the Emira’s strongest selling points. Its sculpted body draws clear inspiration from the Lotus Evija hypercar, with prominent air channels, a low nose and muscular rear haunches. Australian-market Emira documentation has offered distinctive finishes including Mist White, Hethel Yellow, Vivid Red, Zinc Grey, Nimbus Grey and Shadow Grey, although exact paint availability can vary by model, production period and remaining stock. Lotus also offers special appearance treatments and Racing Line themes on selected current versions, so buyers should confirm the exact configuration with an Australian Lotus Centre.

For Australian enthusiasts, the Emira is most compelling when judged as a driver-focused sports car rather than a luxury coupe that happens to be fast. Its compromises are real: it seats only two, luggage room is limited, entry and exit are lower than in a conventional car, and specialist servicing and ownership costs deserve consideration. In return, it offers an unusual combination of exotic styling, mid-engined balance, genuine steering feedback and a choice of modern turbo-DCT or supercharged V6 manual character. Buyers should check current Australian pricing, build availability and model-specific options before ordering because the Emira range continues to evolve.
