2026 Chery Tiggo 8 Super Hybrid Price in Australia

The Chery Tiggo 8 Super Hybrid brings plug-in hybrid capability to Chery Australia’s seven-seat large SUV range, giving families a way to reduce petrol use without relying entirely on public charging. Its Super Hybrid system combines a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with a dedicated hybrid transmission, an 18.4kWh high-voltage battery and a 150kW/310Nm electric motor. Chery lists an electric driving range of up to 95km on the NEDC cycle and promotes an estimated combined range of up to 1,200km when the vehicle starts with fuel and charge available. The official combined fuel-consumption figure is 1.3L/100km under the relevant test procedure, although real-world results depend heavily on battery charge, trip length, traffic, temperature and driving style. For Australian owners who can plug in at home or work, that layout makes short urban commutes very different from a traditional seven-seat petrol SUV while keeping a petrol engine available for longer journeys.

Practicality is central to the Tiggo 8 Super Hybrid. It provides three rows and seating for seven, with the third row able to fold when more luggage room is required. The cabin has a modern, technology-heavy presentation, led by a 10.25-inch digital driver display and a 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen. Wireless smartphone charging, a 360-degree around-view monitor, intelligent voice control and synthetic leather seating are part of the Australian equipment story, while the higher Ultimate grade adds comfort and convenience items including a panoramic sunroof, head-up display, privacy glass, heated and ventilated front seats, driver headrest speakers and a massage function for the front passenger. Families should still inspect the third row in person, especially if adults will use it regularly, because a seven-seat SUV of this size will usually be most comfortable with children or smaller passengers in the rear-most seats.

Safety and assistance technology are also major parts of the package. Chery Australia lists nine airbags together with systems such as autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot detection, lane-departure warning and prevention, traffic-jam assist, rear cross-traffic alert and braking, emergency lane keeping and driver monitoring. These systems are useful aids but do not replace attentive driving. The Tiggo 8 Super Hybrid also has a 360-degree camera, which is valuable when manoeuvring a large family SUV in shopping centres, school zones or tight suburban driveways. The combination of a quiet electric-capable powertrain and a well-equipped cabin should make it appealing to buyers who prioritise comfort and low-speed refinement over a sporty driving character.

There are some important ownership considerations. The best fuel-saving results come when the battery is charged regularly, so buyers without convenient home or workplace charging may not achieve the same benefit as owners who plug in frequently. Chery specifies 95 RON or higher unleaded fuel for the petrol engine, and the Australian Tiggo 8 Super Hybrid range is front-wheel drive rather than an all-wheel-drive choice. The hybrid hardware also adds complexity and weight compared with a simple petrol SUV. On the other hand, DC fast-charging compatibility adds flexibility away from home, and the petrol engine removes the need to plan every long trip around charging stops.

For Australian buyers, the Tiggo 8 Super Hybrid makes the strongest case as a family vehicle that can behave like an EV for many daily journeys but remains easy to take on long-distance trips. It is not simply the petrol Tiggo 8 Pro Max with a different badge: the Super Hybrid has its own electrified powertrain, larger central display and a distinct efficiency focus. Shoppers comparing the two should think about access to charging, annual kilometres, how often all seven seats are needed and whether all-wheel drive is a priority. If regular charging is practical and maximum fuel efficiency matters, the Tiggo 8 Super Hybrid is the more compelling choice; if simplicity, lower purchase cost or AWD availability matters more, the petrol Tiggo 8 Pro Max may still suit some households better.
