2026 Chery C5 Price in Australia

The Chery C5 sits in the busy small-SUV segment in Australia and is aimed at buyers who want a compact footprint without giving up the elevated seating position and practical cabin layout that make SUVs popular. The current petrol C5 is the updated model previously known locally as the Omoda 5, and Chery Australia offers it in Urban and Ultimate grades. Its styling is intentionally distinctive, with a prominent patterned grille, sharp lighting signatures and a coupe-influenced roofline that gives it more visual character than many conservative compact crossovers.

Under the bonnet is a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine producing 108kW and 210Nm. It drives the front wheels through a six-speed dual-clutch transmission, with Eco, Normal and Sport drive modes. Chery lists combined fuel consumption at 6.9L/100km. This is a conventional petrol setup, so buyers should not confuse the C5 with the separately marketed C5 Hybrid. For drivers who mainly commute, run errands and take occasional highway trips, the petrol C5 offers a simple ownership proposition without any need to charge.

The C5 is 4351mm long, 1831mm wide and 1662mm high, with a 2610mm wheelbase. Those dimensions make it a manageable size for suburban garages and urban parking, while the five-seat cabin provides useful everyday space. Chery lists 370 litres of luggage capacity to the cargo cover, which is workable for groceries, commuting gear and weekend bags, although buyers who regularly carry bulky family equipment may prefer a larger Tiggo model. The rear seat is suitable for normal five-seat duties, but the C5 is not intended to replace a seven-seat family SUV.

Technology is a major part of the C5’s appeal. The cabin uses dual 10.25-inch displays for vehicle information and infotainment, with wired and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Chery also includes its voice-command system, while the higher Ultimate grade adds features such as wireless phone charging, heated sport-style front seats, selectable ambient lighting and a power tailgate. Equipment can vary by grade, so shoppers should compare Urban and Ultimate specification lists rather than assuming every advertised feature is standard on the entry version.

Safety equipment is also extensive for the class. Chery Australia lists a broad suite of driver-assistance systems including autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot detection, lane-departure warning and prevention, driver monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. These systems can reduce workload and add reassurance, but they remain assistance features and do not replace attentive driving. The model is sold with Chery’s Australian ownership program, including a seven-year unlimited-kilometre warranty, seven years of capped-price servicing and roadside assistance that can be renewed with eligible scheduled servicing.

For Australian buyers, the C5 makes the most sense when value, styling, cabin technology and easy urban dimensions sit high on the priority list. Its limitations are equally clear: it is front-wheel drive only, the 370-litre boot is not class-leading for buyers with large cargo needs, and several desirable comfort features are reserved for the Ultimate grade. Even so, the combination of turbo-petrol performance, a strong standard technology offering and long warranty coverage gives the C5 a clear place among affordable new small SUVs.
