2026 RAM 1500 Price in Australia

The RAM 1500 established the modern full-size American pickup segment in Australia by combining substantial towing ability with the comfort and equipment of a large premium SUV. The current local range is broader than ever, with RAM Trucks Australia listing both the proven 5.7-litre HEMI V8 eTorque Big Horn and a growing family of 3.0-litre twin-turbo Hurricane six-cylinder variants. That variety lets buyers choose between traditional V8 character and the stronger outputs and newer technology of the Hurricane generation.

The 5.7-litre HEMI V8 eTorque system in the Big Horn produces 291 kW and 556 Nm according to RAM Trucks Australia. Newer Hurricane models use a twin-turbo 3.0-litre inline-six. Standard-output versions such as the Laramie Sport produce 313 kW and 635 Nm, while the Limited's high-output tune reaches 403 kW and 707 Nm. An eight-speed automatic is used with the current Hurricane models, providing smooth highway operation and useful flexibility when towing.

Towing remains central to the 1500's appeal. RAM Trucks Australia quotes up to 4,500 kg braked towing for suitable configurations using the appropriate 70 mm tow-ball setup, while exact capacity varies by variant, towing equipment and vehicle loading. This makes the 1500 particularly popular with owners of larger caravans, boats and recreational trailers. Buyers should still calculate payload, tow-ball mass and gross combination limits carefully because accessories, passengers and cargo all consume available capacity.

Where the 1500 differs most clearly from many conventional utes is inside. Crew-cab models offer expansive passenger space and a broad, comfortable cabin. New Hurricane variants introduce technology such as a 14.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen on selected grades, a 10.25-inch front-passenger display, wireless smartphone connectivity and premium Harman Kardon audio. Higher grades can add heated and ventilated seating, massaging front seats, panoramic roof, air suspension, powered side steps and the RAMBox cargo management system.

Safety and towing assistance have also advanced. Depending on variant, Australian equipment includes blind-spot monitoring with trailer detection, forward collision warning with active braking, adaptive cruise control, surround-view cameras, lane assistance, parking sensors and other driver-support functions. The breadth of the range means buyers should compare individual grades carefully rather than assuming every 1500 carries the same equipment.

The main trade-off is size. A RAM 1500 is wider and longer than most mainstream Australian utes, which can make older car parks, narrow urban streets and tight garages challenging. Fuel and tyre costs can also be higher. Yet for buyers who regularly tow, cover long highway distances or simply need the space of a true full-size pickup, the 1500 delivers a distinctive combination of comfort, capability and presence. Choosing the right engine and grade is important: Big Horn prioritises workhorse value, while Hurricane Laramie and Limited models move progressively toward premium touring and performance.
