2026 Peugeot 308 Hatch Hybrid Price in Australia

The Peugeot 308 Hatch Hybrid brings Peugeot’s current self-charging hybrid technology to one of the most distinctive small hatchbacks sold in Australia. The Australian model is offered as the 308 GT Hybrid, combining the brand’s sharp exterior styling with a cabin built around the compact Peugeot i-Cockpit steering wheel, a configurable 10-inch digital instrument display and a 10-inch high-definition central touchscreen. It is aimed at buyers who still value the lower seating position, easy manoeuvrability and driving character of a hatchback but want lower official fuel consumption than the previous petrol-only 308 range.

Its powertrain pairs a 1.2-litre PureTech turbocharged petrol engine with an electrified six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and integrated electric assistance. Peugeot Australia lists maximum combined output at 107 kW and maximum torque at 230 Nm. Unlike a plug-in hybrid, the 308 Hybrid does not need an external charger. Its small traction battery is replenished through the vehicle’s hybrid system and energy recovery during deceleration, allowing electric assistance to support the petrol engine automatically in everyday driving.

Official Australian combined fuel consumption is 4.2 L/100 km under ADR testing, with combined CO2 emissions listed at 95 g/km. Eco, Normal and Sport drive modes allow the driver to tailor responses to different journeys. For buyers who cannot conveniently install home charging, the self-charging format is one of the 308 Hybrid’s key advantages because normal refuelling remains the only external energy stop required.

The 308 remains a compact and easy-to-place car despite its premium presentation. Peugeot lists the Hybrid at 4,365 mm long, 1,859 mm wide excluding mirrors and 1,465 mm high. Its hatchback body provides a practical rear load opening and flat-folding rear seats for carrying larger items. The cabin uses Fraxx tri-material Alcantara with Isabella leather-effect upholstery and Adamite green stitching, while GT equipment includes a panoramic opening glass roof, premium audio and eight-colour personalisable ambient lighting.

Technology is another major part of the Australian specification. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity complement Peugeot iConnect infotainment, while virtual i-Toggle shortcuts are designed to make frequently used functions easier to access. Exterior equipment includes full adaptive Matrix LED headlights, automatic high beam and Peugeot’s distinctive three-claw rear LED lighting. The 18-inch Portland matte-black diamond-cut alloy wheels reinforce the GT model’s sporty appearance.

Safety and driver assistance include adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go, autonomous emergency braking, lane-departure technology, long-range blind-spot detection, front and rear parking sensors and a multi-camera parking view. The restraint package includes front, front-side and curtain airbags. For Australian buyers comparing premium small cars, the 308 Hybrid’s strengths are its distinctive design, efficient no-plug hybrid system and generous GT equipment. Its compromises include a higher price than many mainstream hatchbacks, a compact rear cabin compared with larger SUVs and the fact that its hybrid system is designed primarily to improve efficiency rather than provide meaningful plug-in-style electric-only range.
