2026 McLaren GTS Price in Australia

McLaren GTS is the grand-touring member of the current McLaren Australia line-up and replaces the earlier GT with more power, revised styling and a sharper chassis. It retains the essential McLaren ingredients of a carbon-fibre monocoque, rear-wheel drive, hydraulic steering and a mid-mounted engine, but places more emphasis on luggage space, ride comfort and road-trip usability than the 750S.

The 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 produces 635 PS and 630 Nm, driving the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. McLaren quotes 0–100 km/h in 3.2 seconds, 0–200 km/h in 8.9 seconds and a top speed of 326 km/h. Those figures are firmly in supercar territory, yet the engine and transmission calibration are designed to remain smooth and manageable in normal traffic.

One of the GTS’s defining features is practicality. The front luggage compartment holds 150 litres, while the rear area provides 420 litres, creating a combined capacity that is exceptional for a mid-engine two-seater. That makes the car far more suitable for Australian weekend trips or longer touring than most exotic rivals. A vehicle-lift system also helps negotiate steep driveways and speed humps.

The chassis uses double aluminium wishbones, adaptive dampers and McLaren’s Proactive Damping Control with Comfort, Sport and Track modes. Carbon-ceramic brakes are standard, and the car’s relatively low mass helps braking, acceleration and steering response. Hydraulic power steering remains an important part of the experience, giving the GTS more detailed feedback than many electrically assisted competitors.

Inside, the GTS mixes a driver-focused layout with more luxurious material choices and seat options. Buyers can choose comfort-oriented or more sporting themes, upgrade audio, add carbon-fibre trim and specify a broad range of paints through McLaren and MSO. The cabin is still a strict two-seater, but visibility and access are better than the dramatic proportions might suggest.

For Australian buyers comparing Aston Martin Vantage, Porsche 911 Turbo, Ferrari Roma-class cars and other high-performance GTs, the McLaren GTS stands out for its light carbon structure and luggage capacity. Its compromises include high running costs, limited dealer coverage, expensive options and a cabin that is still more focused on driving than luxury theatre. For owners who genuinely want to use a supercar regularly, however, it is arguably McLaren’s easiest model to live with.
