Genesis G70 Shooting Brake is the more practical five-door member of the G70 family for Australia, combining the styling and rear-drive character of the sports sedan with a longer roof and more versatile cargo access. It uses the same 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine rated at 179 kW and 353 Nm with an eight-speed automatic, while premium equipment such as a 10.25-inch infotainment system, Genesis Connected Services, wireless phone charging and a 15-speaker Lexicon audio system give it a strong luxury specification. For Australian buyers who want a distinctive alternative to compact premium SUVs, the G70 Shooting Brake offers wagon practicality and sporty proportions in a package that remains rare in today’s market.

Genesis G70 Shooting Brake is the wagon-style counterpart to the G70 sports sedan and is officially listed as a separate model in Australia. It shares the sedan’s basic platform, cabin architecture and premium positioning but adds a longer roofline and large rear hatch, making it better suited to luggage, lifestyle equipment and family duties. The design keeps the G70’s low stance and two-line Genesis lighting signature, so it looks more like a sporting estate than a conventional tall crossover.
Australian specifications use a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 179 kW and 353 Nm. Drive goes to the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission. The powertrain is tuned for smooth everyday response rather than outright performance, and it gives the Shooting Brake a more traditional sports-wagon character than the all-wheel-drive SUVs that dominate the same price range.
The cabin is strongly driver-focused. Genesis uses a 10.25-inch infotainment display with navigation and connected functions, a digital instrument cluster on higher specifications, wireless phone charging and a 15-speaker Lexicon premium audio system. Genesis Connected Services supports remote functions, destination transfer and vehicle status information through the companion app.
Practicality is the key reason to choose the Shooting Brake over the sedan. The roof extends farther rearward and the tailgate provides a much larger opening, making it easier to load bulky items. Rear-seat space remains similar to the G70 sedan, so the car is still more compact than a medium SUV, but buyers gain meaningful cargo flexibility without losing the low seating position and responsive handling of a passenger car.
Safety and driver assistance are well represented, with autonomous braking, lane and blind-spot assistance, parking technology and other active systems depending on specification. The Shooting Brake also shares the G70 family’s broad exterior paint range. Australian brochures list 13 gloss and matte colours including Vatna Gray, Kawah Blue, Uyuni White, Savile Silver, Vik Black, Tasman Blue, Makalu Gray, Cavendish Red, Capri Blue and Hallasan Green, plus matte Verbier White, Bond Silver and Makalu Gray.
For Australian buyers comparing Audi A4 Avant-style wagons, BMW 3 Series Touring alternatives or compact premium SUVs, the G70 Shooting Brake is appealing because it is unusual. It provides a lower, sportier driving position and distinctive styling while retaining genuine luggage flexibility. Its limitations are rear seat space, a modest 179 kW output compared with some performance wagons and a smaller Genesis retail network. Buyers who value individuality and wagon practicality, however, may find it especially attractive.
