DEEPAL S07 is the model that launched the DEEPAL brand in Australia and remains its mainstream medium electric SUV. It is positioned as a five-seat family EV with more cabin and luggage space than the upcoming S05, while remaining more conventional and easier to understand than the transformable E07 Multitruck. The S07 is rear-wheel drive and has been tailored for Australian buyers with local safety calibration, warranty support and a specification that emphasises comfort and technology.
The Australian S07 uses a permanent-magnet synchronous rear motor producing 160 kW and 320 Nm. Energy comes from a 79.97 kWh battery, and DEEPAL quotes up to 475 km of WLTP driving range. Acceleration from 0–100 km/h is listed at about 7.9 seconds, which is adequate rather than sports-car quick but suits the model’s family-oriented role. Rear-wheel drive gives the S07 a balanced feel and keeps the front axle free of propulsion duties.
Charging is one area where the S07 is now less competitive than newer EV platforms. DEEPAL lists up to 11 kW AC charging, allowing a full home charge in roughly eight hours on suitable three-phase equipment. DC fast charging is rated at 92 kW, with 30–80 percent taking around 35 minutes under appropriate conditions. The heat pump helps improve energy efficiency in cooler weather, while configurable energy recuperation settings let the driver tailor regenerative braking response.
The cabin is well equipped for the price. A 15.6-inch high-definition centre screen can tilt toward the driver or passenger and supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A 14-speaker Sony audio system, augmented-reality head-up display, 50 W ventilated wireless phone charger, panoramic fixed sunroof and 64-colour ambient lighting are included. Front seating provides powered adjustment plus heating and ventilation, and the driver seat adds memory and lumbar adjustment.
Family practicality is strong. DEEPAL lists 445 litres of rear boot capacity and a useful 125-litre front storage compartment, while the rear seats fold to expand luggage volume to about 1,385 litres. Three child-seat anchor points and two ISOFIX positions support family use. The S07 also includes rear air vents, a PM2.5 filtration system and multiple charging ports for passengers.
Safety is a major selling point. The Australian S07 carries a five-star ANCAP rating from 2024 and includes seven airbags, autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane support, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and braking, traffic-sign recognition and adaptive cruise-related assistance. A 360-degree camera, simulated 3D view and parking sensors make the relatively wide SUV easier to manoeuvre.
DEEPAL Australia backs the S07 with a seven-year or 160,000 km vehicle warranty and an eight-year or 240,000 km high-voltage battery warranty, plus 12 months of roadside assistance when the buyer opts in at delivery. For Australian buyers comparing Geely EX5, Leapmotor C10, BYD Sealion 7 and other electric SUVs, the S07’s strengths are equipment, space and warranty coverage. Its chief weaknesses are modest DC charging speed, a touchscreen-heavy interface and the fact that some newer competitors offer faster charging or lower entry pricing.
