Suzuki Alto Price Soars to Rs. 3,326,446 in Latest Price Revision
Why Alto and Every Hit Hardest?
Interestingly, while all vehicles have seen price adjustments, the Suzuki Alto and Suzuki Every have received the biggest hike compared to other Suzuki models.
For instance, the top variant of the Swift saw a price increase of approximately Rs. 47,190. In contrast, Suzuki Alto’s top variant got almost 4x of the hike compared to Swift, see the table below for understanding:
The reason is the GST increase on Alto and Every. According to the budget 2025-26, the government has increased the General Sales Tax (GST) from 12.5% to 18% specifically for cars with engines of 850cc or lower. Since the Suzuki Alto and Suzuki Every fall into this category, they have incurred two tax impacts: both the increased GST (5.5% additional) and the newly introduced 1% NEV levy.
Other Suzuki models, such as the Swift and Cultus, which have engine capacities exceeding 850cc, are only affected by the new NEV levy (1%) and not by the increased GST. In contrast, Ravi, although it has an 800cc engine, already has an 18% GST rate as it falls under the commercial category. This difference explains why their prices have not surged as drastically as those of Alto and Every.
